I’ve been laying on the beach in Cabo reading books I’ve collected from Amazon over the past few months. It’s a terrible habit — you know, buying books, reading a few chapters then getting caught up in all my to-do lists.

But here’s something I recently learned about myself: I must take the time to read and listen to other human beings life perspectives on a consistent basis. I know this seems silly and maybe a little obvious, but the insight another person’s life experiences bring me keeps me grounded and thoughtful in my day to day adventures. It keeps me in tune to my emotions, to others and the ability to see outside of my every day box of life.

So, finishing all those books is now at the top of my to-do list.

How was your weekend? We had a lovely one over here with beautiful vibrant blue skies and 60 degree temps. Saturday night was even nice enough for us to grill out with homemade cumin turkey burgers, roasted peppers and plenty of wine to fill our glasses.

Last week was an entirely different story though. It was cold, rainy and I could never seem to get warm enough even when I was wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket.

The cure for having the chills? A comforting bowl of delicious soup simmering away on the stove top and devoured with your favorite crackers on top.

The best guacamole recipe EVER. A mix between creamy and chunky with bites of heat from jalapeno and flavor from cilantro and lime juice. You need this in your life!

When Tony and I first started dating he didn’t do much exploration with meals. In fact I’m 99% sure most of his diet consisted of corn dogs, fries and frozen pizza. It was a scary time for me.

Somewhat joking. Somewhat not.

As our relationship progressed, so did Tony’s tastebuds and his discovery of new cuisines. I’ve tried both Thai food and sushi with him for the first time. I introduced him to avocado black bean brownies. He started eating refried beans. He’s now obsessed with chocolate and homemade Reese’s eggs. He enjoys sprouted bread and brown rice. He also thinks my banana bread is the best thing on this planet (okay in the world of banana breads, it totally is).
