I’m all out of sorts when it comes to what day it is. A week long work trip will do that to you. My email inbox is out of control and there’s nothing in the fridge except energy balls and blueberry muffins.

My schedule is completely off because Tony now wakes up at 5am, which means I tend to get up at that time too. If you know me well, you know I’m traditionally a night owl. It’s been an adjustment, but I’ve also found myself enjoying the dark, quiet hours of Chicago mornings.

This weekend, I don’t have any plans except for catching up on work and relaxing. I also have a few delicious recipes coming to you on Sunday and Monday, so I hope you’ll stop by and check them out!

Hello hello! We made it to Friday. Let’s start the day with a good breakfast and end it with an even better dessert.

This week was tiring. I tested several recipes and they MAJORLY FAILED. This happens sometimes. The annoying part is that I have to remake them until they’re worthy of being on the blog. The upside is that Tony continues to eat everything and anything. Bless him. He also bought me flowers and made a delicious gnocchi with a red wine spicy meat sauce last night. He’s just the best.

It feels so weird to write out 2016, don’t you think? Not to mention that I still can’t get over the fact that I am now four years from turning thirty yet I continue to blast Justin Bieber like a teenager. Oh well. *plays The Feeling on repeat*

In other more exciting news, I’ve been making recipe videos. Most recently I created one for my Double Chocolate Paleo Banana Bread and think it’s pretty cute. You can find the full video over on my Facebook page (would love if you liked my page!). I’m going to buy a tripod this weekend, so they’ll be a much less shaky. If you have any favorite AK recipes you’d like me to create videos for, let me know in the comments below! Love hearing from you.

How was your first week of 2016? Mine is off to a rocky start. I have to admit to you guys that I’m feeling very a little indecisive in various areas of my life, especially with my career and blogging. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE making recipes for you but my heart is leading me somewhere else besides just blogging. I want to inspire. I want to learn more. I want to teach you how to be healthy! Whatever the case, I’ve got some big decisions to make soon and thankfully I have Netflix to distract me until then.

Lately, we’ve been really into Making a Murderer (obviously?) and also The Vikings on the History Channel. If you haven’t watched either, then you absolutely must check them out.

My goodness, I’m so excited for 2016. Seems typical to say, but for me it’s so true. I’ve got big plans for the blog and myself. There’s nothing better than spending time on reflecting over the past year — the good, the bad and the things I should be doing more (or less) of.

Big things happened over the past year: I traveled more than I ever thought I would, Tony and I decided to move in together, I made the most recipes in any consecutive year, I hired an assistant, photographer and graphic designer.

Today I wanted to spend some time looking at my most popular recipes that were published in 2015. I dive into the most view recipes every year and it’s always interesting to see which ones you loved the most.

Happy weekend, friends! I’m back in Chicago after a lovely ski trip in Utah.

I probably hadn’t been on the slopes since I was 14, so not only was it an adventure but a little bit of a mental mind game. At one point, I accidentally skied down a blue run and thought I was going to DIE. Completely terrifying, but I did it and am pretty proud.

Anyway, what’s new with you? Do you have any Christmas parties to attend this weekend? I do! Tony has a family Christmas party every year, so on Saturday we’ll be attending that and then on Sunday we’re having one at our place. I’m supposed to bring cookies to the party tomorrow and am thinking quite a few versions. I’m sure you’ll see them all on Instagram later today!

In other news, my birthday is on Tuesday and I’m a little excited, but not really. I’m turning 27. WAIT WHAT. How did we get there? I swear I was just 24. I don’t know what’s happening to time. Also, nevermind the fact that saying that makes me sound 80.

I saved this gift guide for last because not only is it the biggest, but it just so happens to be my favorite of them all.

I’m not going to lie, most of these gifts I picked out because they were things that I would love to receive or give to a friend. I have to admit I purchased a few; I know it seems lame to shop for yourself during the season of giving, but sometimes it just happens. You guys get me.

Lastly, these gifts also just so happen to be PERFECT picks for guys to get their girlfriends, so feel free to send it to anyone who needs a little helpful hint this holiday season. AND HURRY! You’ll need to order soon in order to get these in time for Christmas! xoxo.

Happy weekend, friends!

Sarah from Broma Bakery and I are having a serious photography session over the next few days. We have such a good time together and I love how talented she is. The best thing I’ve done this year (besides hiring my assistant) was hiring Sarah to take some of my photos. Plus, our goofiness is on point.

Are you ready for Gift Guide Number 5? We only have a few more left but this one is meant for the baker in your life (or the wanna be baker).

My love for baking comes from my Father, whom taught me how to bake. We’d mostly bake cakes and lemon pies for my butter-loving grandma. But sometimes baking comes from just testing the waters, getting in the kitchen and trying out a few recipes (that’s why I’m here!). Thus, I put together this amazing gift guide with inexpensive gifts for bakers.

Let’s do this!

I can’t believe it’s the second week of December. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? If not, then your exactly like me. A possible procrastinator.

But, I’m here with gift guide number 4 and it’s for the most wonderful woman in your life: MOM! Each and every year I struggle time with what to get my mom. I know her well, but it’s still tough to shop for her. I want to get her things that aren’t completely basic, but it can be tough.

This year I came up with a list designed for nearly every Mom out there. Gifts I felt that any woman would appreciate.

Here we go!
