Brown Butter Apple Coffee Cake

STEP 1

For the streusel: add flour, brown sugar, cinnamon & salt to a bowl

STEP 2

Add melted butter and mix until it looks like clumps of wet sand. Cover & refrigerate

STEP 3

Brown your butter, then set it aside to cool

STEP 4

Mix together applesauce, eggs, maple syrup, vanilla & the cooled brown butter

STEP 5

Add flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt to a large bowl

STEP 6

Mix in cinnamon, allspice, ginger & nutmeg until well combined

STEP 7

Mix the dry & wet ingredients together until just combined, then fold in apple chunks

STEP 8

Spread half of the batter into your pan, then top with half of the streusel

STEP 9

Repeat with the remaining batter & streusel, then bake

STEP 10

For the glaze: mix together powdered sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, butter & milk

STEP 11

Drizzle the glaze all over the cooled apple coffee cake

Slice & serve for brunch on holiday mornings or as the perfect dessert!
