I have to say, we had a very exciting weekend because…

We put an offer down on a house! It’s in Chicago and is what I would call a refinished vintage gem. We’re waiting to hear if our offer is accepted so please cross your fingers for us! We should find out later today or tomorrow.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups were always my favorite candy as a kid. Classic case of nostalgia.

During Halloween I’d go through my bag and pick out all Reese’s and set them aside for extra special treat days. I had to savor them because Mom didn’t buy Reese’s often. When Easter came along and Reese’s eggs were popular, I was allowed to have exactly one. I cherished that Reese’s egg with my entire soul.

If you lived with me, you’d know that I almost always have to end each meal (or the night) with a little something sweet. I have a feeling that we’re very similar in our fondness for better-for-you treats, am I right?!

All I know is that I can’t feel confident and slam down an extra large blizzard or cherry dipped cone all the time.

I’m also sensing that I might be craving DQ here. Haven’t had a Dilly in wayyyy too long.

My first memories of waffles are the ones from the local breakfast spot on Sundays after church. They were gigantic, crispy on the outside and topped with real whipped cream. A true breakfast indulgence that’s especially wonderful when you’re a kid.

Now that I’m older, my eating habits have changed somewhat. I mostly seek recipes that that fill me up with fiber, protein and healthy fats. However, there are days when I get cravings for a waffle the size of my face and just have to give in.

So really all I’ve been trying to do is figure out what’s next for myself and AK.

Hellooooo Friday! I drove to Minnesota from Chicago on Wednesday and let me tell you that is absolutely not a pleasant 7 hour drive. I kept myself occupied by listening to the Invisibilia podcast and munching on those awesome Sabra hummus and pretzel cups plus my favorite Quest bar.
.

I’ll be in Minnesota the rest of the weekend catching up with family and friends, plus doing the whole Easter brunch thing. As a kid, Easter used to be one of my favorite holidays. Most likely because I loved all the chocolate bunnies and sweet things. I think my Mom got me an Easter basket each year until I was about 16… until the year she didn’t and I threw a complete fit. As in, I literally searched the entire house looking for my Easter basket because I thought she was kidding when she said she didn’t get me one. It was such a special tradition to me and OMG how I used to love JellyBelly beans and Reese’s eggs. Mom… still waiting for my Easter basket… you’ve still got time! HINT. Read more.

As you may have noticed, I’ve been trying hard to rotate between baked goods and healthy meals. Quite a task for me some days as all I want to do is bake you all the things.

Lately I’ve been craving a good bundt. Because I like big bundts. And I cannot lie.

Okay, I’ll stop myself there.
