You know when you get the feeling that you’re searching for something more, but you don’t know what it is yet? Perhaps it’s your life calling — a passion, a truth, a religion, just something to make you feel like this is truly who you are, shining in all your glory? Well, that’s me. Right at this moment. HELLO QUARTER LIFE CRISIS NUMBER 15.
Seriously, it might be number 15.
How are you today? Doing well?
Good news, friends. I’m here to make the day even better with a salted dark chocolate pecan butter that puts nutella to shame. It kinda tastes like chocolate pecan pie in a jar. And I loves it.
When I first started my blog, I had just moved to Washington D.C., was utterly confused about what to do with my life and had endless amounts of student loans. I knew that that I needed to support myself, make a decent income and be independent. So I took a job in marketing at a engineering consulting firm.
Guys, it was terrible. I mean truly awful.
Imagine that you could find an absolutely delicious cookie full of flavor, protein, fiber and nutritious ingredients.
I’d like you to meet your new BFF: Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups were always my favorite candy as a kid. Classic case of nostalgia.
During Halloween I’d go through my bag and pick out all Reese’s and set them aside for extra special treat days. I had to savor them because Mom didn’t buy Reese’s often. When Easter came along and Reese’s eggs were popular, I was allowed to have exactly one. I cherished that Reese’s egg with my entire soul.
It always feels exceptional to wake up and notice banana bread sitting on the counter waiting to be devoured. You know it’s going to be even better than it was the first day, if that’s even possible. Yet you tell yourself you’ll have it later, perhaps for an afternoon treat.
Shortly after you open the pantry and peer into the fridge, you realize you’re absolutely having that banana bread for breakfast. There’s no stopping you. You’re craving it NOW.
That was my situation last week and it ended with me enjoying two thick slices with peanut butter on top. Plus a few fresh strawberries, chia seeds and huge chunks of dark chocolate. Because antioxidants, right?
Hello from beautiful Scottsdale, AZ! Can I just say how good it feels to be in warm weather without a scarf, coat or mittens? I’ve been craving warm sunshine on my skin since early October.
Don’t worry though, I’m sure the rest of the country will catch up soon. March is nearly here, which for me means patio season, rooftop bars, farmer’s markets, biking along Lake Michigan, running outside, berries and ALL THE SMOOTHIES…
Almond meal banana muffins!!! Yes, we’ll get to the recipe, but first, hi and how was your weekend?
Here in Chicago it was a beautiful 60 degrees (in February!). Of course, I took full advantage of the weekend by taking a break from work and taxes. On Friday night we stayed in, made cookies and watched the new(er) Steve Jobs movie. I full blown LOVED it and thought Michael Fassbender was fantastic. If you haven’t seen it yet, you must!
If there’s one thing I learned about myself during my health and fitness journey, it’s that I absolutely must have snacks (like these peanut butter energy bites) available or I become an out of control raging hypoglycemia animal. Think Tom Cruise mixed with a wolverine. Very scary stuff.
Ever since I’ve been little, my blood sugar has always been on a rigid 3-hour dive schedule. As in, I’m the type of person who has to have something to eat every few hours or I’ll crash. My mom says that when she brought me somewhere, she always had to make sure that she had food with her otherwise I’d ruin the day and throw a fit. Terrible, right?
But it’s true! When I get hungry, I cannot think, make decisions or even pretend to be in a good mood. I’ve seen the doctor a few times about it and apparently that’s just the way my body is. Wacky.
