Anyone else love milkshakes as much as I do? I’m asking because I’ve made you one that tastes EXACTLY like that delicious minty chocolate chip one from you know where (BIG M).

I will tell let you in on a little secret: Tony is OBSESSED with McDonald’s; I can’t get him to stop eating it. In fact, I think he eats quite a bit of it when I’m not around. Quite disturbing for someone who runs a health-focused food blog, right?!

I guess opposites really do attract? Or something like that anyway haha.

Yesterday Lee and I finished up a photoshoot for our NEW exciting health & fitness program coming this June. Honestly, we’ve both been working round the clock coordinating the launch, writing for our own sites, plus quite a bit of traveling. I’m potentially on the verge of exhaustion but also really, really excited for you to see what we’ve planned!

Good news is that I’m ready for some Memorial Day BBQ food and a margarita pitcher all to myself. Heh.

Some people can’t control themselves when it comes to chocolate but my problem happens to lie with nut butters. Every time I make them or buy a jar I down that creamy goodness in about 5 days. FOR REALS.

I usually just spoon it right out of the jar and into my mouth. Seriously cannot help it. I’ve actually thought about starting my own nut butter company. You never know.

Remember when I mentioned that I was going to try be a little bit healthier when it came to food choices? Well I’ve been pretty dedicated… so far anyway. Eating better and enjoying more refined sugar sweets made with wholesome ingredients has made me feel incredible, lighter and maybe a little bit leaner. Isn’t it funny how even the smallest changes in your food choices can make a BIG difference? I think so.

Oh hi guys! Welcome to your regularly scheduled Wellness Wednesday post! Today’s how-to was inspired by me wanting to cut out excess sugar in my diet a few years back. First, I started reading the nutritional labels on everything I ate. Turns out that nearly 15+ grams of sugar were coming from my morning or afternoon greek yogurt snack. Yep, it’s true!

Did you know that most of the fruit-based greek yogurts out there add cane sugar and/or syrup to sweeten the yogurt? That’s so unnecessary, don’t you think? I mean I’ll admit I love a sweet afternoon snack but when realized HOW MUCH sugar they really added I was disturbed. Surely I could find another way to enjoy greek yogurt without spoonfuls of added sugar, right?

First I started experimenting by just eating plain greek yogurt, but it was way too tart for me. I couldn’t even eat more than 1/4 of a cup without wanting to throw it away. The yogurt needed a little something else in there to make it more appealing.

I have to admit something and writing it here makes it official: I really haven’t been eating healthy lately. The whole month of travel really caught me off guard. Usually I’m pretty cautious and fairly diligent about making healthy food choices but I’ve had my fair share of sweetness this month.

As someone who has had food struggles, it’s important for me to stay on track with the way I eat because if altered, I can easily develop an unhealthy relationship.

This past weekend Sarah of Broma Bakery came to stay with me in Chicago and we treated ourselves to something sweet every single day. It was a bit unusual to me but life is all about balance, well-being and feasting on happy moments; sometimes these special occasions call for frozen yogurt, doughnuts AND chocolate chip pancakes. Ha!

We had the absolute best time together and I can’t wait to share more photos of our baking plus our Chicago adventures! In the meantime, I’m getting back to eating all the veggies and indulging in healthier treats (rather than doughnuts).

How was your weekend? Mine was full of good eats and lots of time with Tony; it was his last weekend back home before he heads out for spring training down in Arizona. I’m amazed at how fast the off season has gone. It feels like I just moved to Chicago, but I’m so happy that it feels like home.

Yesterday we spent the day with his family hanging out and watching LOTS of TV like Nascar (don’t ask) and the Oscars. I love parties because I’m always able to bake or cook a few things that I personally want to eat myself… oops.

So I’m doing a juice & food cleanse right now. I’m SUPER excited about it because as you may already know I freakin’ love doing them. It’s not that I think they’re great in the moment, it’s just that I really love how I feel afterwards. The benefits? How clear my skin looks, how much great sleep I get and how differently I end up thinking about food.

I’ll have updates for you on the cleanse soon; in the meantime I’ve been staring at these bars on the counter all of yesterday. I made them last week for Tony because he’s all like I need to get in shape for baseball season — this is as he continues to eat chocolate covered doughnuts for breakfast. I think he could eat just about anything and still look good. No joke.
