Yesterday we moved into our new apartment! Finally, I’ll have own office. And our place is much larger than my previous 700 square foot 1-bedroom.

I’m so eager to get to Home Goods, Pottery Barn, Target plus go antique shopping. The upside of moving is that you get to completely redecorate. If I haven’t mentioned before, my style is very romantic with a bit of sophistication. I love antiques and making them new again with a fresh coat of paint. In fact, I recently had an old headboard painted a beautiful bronze gold from my friends at MegMade here in Chicago. They have a wonderful Etsy shop too, so check it out!

Happy Labor Day, friends! I hope that your enjoying your day off — whatever that means for you. I really don’t have any special plans. Maybe a Mariah Carey jam sesh and cookie baking, but nothing extraordinary.

But I’m super excited for tomorrow because Tony is officially done with baseball and I’m looking forward to having him back home. Even though our Fall months are going to be jam-packed with moving, redecorating, painting, concerts and trips; I can’t wait to do it all with him. All the romantic, mushy feels are happening.

This Summer has been remarkable.

To tell you the truth, I thought I’d have more down time to relax but then I realize that life is short and all I want to do is see the world like any twenty-something. I spent a lot of time traveling without any regrets. The discovery of new places always excites me and I couldn’t feel any more blessed to celebrate the end of Summer with a happy heart.

In other exciting end of Summer news, Tony should be getting home from baseball next week, so we’ll be spending time together eating everything that Chicago has to offer. Date nights (and BDUBS) here we come!

From last week’s eating adventures, I’ve learned two things: 1) It’s astonishing how much you can spend on a salad bar AND 2) I absolutely plan on making these energy bites every week for the rest of summer. Because once summer is over, it’s BAKING season (not that it ever ended for me).

It’s Milly’s 1st birthday today! I know I probably shouldn’t be this excited but my love for her is strong, as demonstrated by my snapchats.

Over the past year, she’s really developed her own little personality and it turns out, she’s just as quirky as me. Her daily life includes naps, treats, tail chasing and sitting on the refrigerator watching me cook. To be honest, the daily joy she’s given me is irreplaceable. It’s weird, but now I can’t imagine what my days would be be like without her. #CATMOMFOREVER

Let me introduce you to a new NUT butter. Because technically coconut is a nut, right? Well technically it’s considered to be a drupe. I googled it for you.

Have you ever heard of coconut butter? Well if you haven’t, it’s just a ‘butter’ made from ground coconut shreds! There are a few brands that currently sell it in Whole Foods, but overall it can be fairly difficult to find in most grocery stores. Plus, coconut butter tends to be pretty expensive (over $10!). So I thought I’d teach you how you can make it at home.

I will tell let you in on a little secret: Tony is OBSESSED with McDonald’s; I can’t get him to stop eating it. In fact, I think he eats quite a bit of it when I’m not around. Quite disturbing for someone who runs a health-focused food blog, right?!

Oh hi. Last week I was in New Mexico due to an urgent family matter. While the circumstances were unfortunate, I was lucky enough to spend time with many of my family members that I hadn’t seen in over a year.

While down there, I learned that a few of my cousins recently started doing Crossfit. I’ve always been nervous about Crossfit, probably because one time I watched the Crossfit games on ESPN and saw women flipping tires and bulked out like the Hulk. That’s awesome, but it’s just not me. However, I needed a good workout and my cousins certainly didn’t look bulky, so I decided to sign up for an afternoon sweat session.

And guess what?! It was AWESOME. Yes, it was difficult and my legs were sore for a few days, but I loved the energy and lifting aspect of the class. I can definitely see how you could get easily toned. I’d love to know if any of you have ever done Crossfit!

As you may or may not have noticed, this past month I’ve been trying to do my best to bring you more savory recipes. When I did my reader survey last year, many of you wanted more healthy meal options.

But sometimes I just can’t help but bake, I think it’s my true calling in life. Last week I had a 6am flight out of Chicago to see Tony. I knew I had to leave by 4am in order to skip traffic and give myself enough time. You think that I would have went to bed at 8pm the night before, but nope, there I was baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies at midnight. I call it stress baking. Some things never change.
