The Best Homemade Healthy Green Bean Casserole

STEP 1

Toss your onions in flour, bread crumbs, garlic powder, salt & olive oil

STEP 2

Spread them onto a baking sheet and bake until crispy

STEP 3

Cook your green beans in batches, then transfer them to a large bowl

STEP 4

Cook mushrooms over medium-high heat with butter, thyme, salt & pepper

STEP 5

In the same skillet make a roux with butter, flour and broth

STEP 6

Once thick turn off the heat and stir in garlic, parmesan, salt & pepper

Toss together the green beans, mushrooms & crispy onions in your baking pan

Pour in the cheese sauce, cover, and bake the casserole

After 25 minutes remove foil, add remaining onions and bake again
