I need to kbow what I did wrong. I followed the directions exactly but the rolls would not fully cook between the middles. After cooking for 30 minutes, I let them cool and then separated them. I had to put them back in the oven for an additional 15 minutes and the dough still was not 100% cooked. It wasn’t the oven because I had just used it to bake something else. Any suggestions?

These were incredible. Really such a fun recipe that we tested out on Easter! Definitely worth the effort.

The most delicious!! Very fluffy, worth the labor. I made them the night before and do second rise in the am after putting them in fridge all night.

    Do not overcook them!

    So tasty

      Perfect! Glad you loved them!

I love that ypu make recipes with small portions like this. Now that most of our boys have moved away, and we only have a couple little ones left, I dont need a 9×13 pan of sweet rolls!

    • replied:

This does make 9 but you can also freeze some if you need to! Freezing instructions are in the blog post, too 🙂

My family LOVED these but I had such a hard time baking them that I hoped they wouldn’t like it so I wouldn’t have to make them again. I used a 9 in round pan and they were severely undercooked after the required time (like only 120 degrees with s thermometer). I only cut them into 8 pieces. Could this be why? I had to cook them for another 15 minutes and tent because they were getting too much color on top. Not sure where I went wrong because Ive made so many breads and they come out perfect so I know its not the oven

    • replied:

So sorry to hear this. I wonder if it was the 9 inch round pan and not having enough space. Many people have made this recipe and loved and we’ve tested this one over 7 times (with various testers besides myself) to make sure it is perfect. Next time, I suggest using a 9 inch square pan or a 11×7 inch pan. Also make sure you are weighing your ingredients for accuracy. 🙂

I’m new to baking so this was a little intimidating to me, but they turned out SO delicious! The directions were very easy to follow, which I really appreciate as a beginner. This will be a staple recipe for my family. This is the third recipe I’ve used by AK and I’m finding she is always on point! She really knows her stuff. Thank you for another amazing recipe!

These rolls look amazing, I am planning on making them this weekend. Do you think that I would be able to make the blueberry filling in advance and leave it in the fridge for a few days until I make the rolls or no?

Hi. My daughter has a tree nut allergy is there any other extract I can use besides almond? Maybe vanilla?

    • replied:

Yes feel free to just use vanilla extract!

These are AMAZING!! I have always been intimidated by cinnamon rolls but after finding this recipe, decided that this was going to be Christmas breakfast. My 4 year old said it tasted like cake, so needless to say the kiddos gobbled theirs down with no complaints. This is going to be a yearly tradition, thank you for making this so easy!

Love that!! So glad they’re a new favorite 🙂

These were good. My kids wanted cinnamon rolls but we were out of brown sugar, so we went with this recipe instead. I enjoyed it, but the kids not so much. We also found the dough hard to work with. Maybe because it is winter and therefore less humid and warm.

    • replied:

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Was the dough overly tough or sticky?

  • says:

i never normally comment on recipes, but i feel compelled to in this case, this dough was far far to soft to support even being rolled, i am in France, so it is possible that the flour is slightly different here, or maybe the weight measurements were off. but i would suggest saving your ingredients for something that actually works.

    • replied:

So sorry to hear that! I’ve made these dozens of times and haven’t found that issue, but it sounds like there wasn’t enough flour. Did the dough feel overly wet after kneading it? Check out the video to see what the dough should look like for rolling!

      • replied:

I think the 390g flour is the culprit here. I measured that out and it was not nearly enough flour. You need closer to 475g bread flour. If just using 3 1/4 cups you will wind up with much more than 390g.

        • replied:

My flour measures 120g, which is standard. 3 1/4 cups would be equal to 390 grams. If the dough feels too soft or is too sticky, feel free to add a few tablespoons or up to 1/4 cup more. However, I’ve tested these multiple times, had our photographer test them, and our recipe tester as well, with great results, so we happily stand by this recipe as written. 🙂 I used King Arthur Flour bread flour by the way!

    SOOO YUMMY!!
It came out just as awesome as I expected it too. The rolls were super fluffy and the filling wasn’t too sweet. I used frozen blueberries for the filling and it was amazing it also took me only like two minutes to get it to thicken but it might be different for you. The blueberries were thawed out though so that may be why. However, I encountered one problem. I didn’t have parchment paper so I just used cooking spray and the bottoms burnt because of that so definitely use parchment paper. Apart from that, everything was perfect they still tasted sooo good (btw I didn’t glaze or frost it)

Amazing recipe! The flavours really complimented each other and they were fun to make. Recipe is straightforward and easy to follow. Definitely a bit of a project but it was fun to do on a quiet Sunday. Took the rolls to a family dinner and everyone raved about them! I’ve made your famous cinnamon rolls a few times which are also amazing. AK recipes never fail me!

This was a straightforward & detailed recipe. My first time trying it and they turned out perfect & delicious! Dough baked nice & fluffy, filling not overly sweet, cream cheese frosting a bit tangy and balances the rolls well. Will definitely make again!

  • says:

The sweet rolls wasn’t really sweet. It was more like a roll with blueberries.

    • replied:

So strange! With the 1/2 cup sugar in the dough and 1/4 cup in the filling, plus the berries, these should be plenty sweet.

I love this recipe!!! The dough is sticky as noted.. but once u proof it, it becomes the heavenly soft dough after it rises! I’m not a fan of citrus zests but I used the juice. This is definitely a sweet roll recipe that will be repeated. So easy, so fluffy and sooooooo delicious!

These rolls are amazing! We went through the first batch so quickly that I’m in the middle of making a second now. The directions are clear and easy to follow. Assembly was a bit of a struggle for me first time around, but no one seemed to care since the rolls tasted so great. I didn’t have almond extract and the rolls are delicious even without it

    • replied:

Perfect! So glad they were a hit!

The dough is spectacular. It is soft, pillowy and just absolutely perfect. The filling and frosting didn’t do it for me though. They were fine, but I wish I had stuck with regular cinnamon rolls.

So good! However, I’m not very good making dough, so I used Pillsbury dough and used that instead. Made the blueberries and icing as directed. Really a nice hit. 🙂 Thank you

These were really delicious and lemon-y! I used instant yeast and all-purpose flour, and they were fluffy still (phew). The blueberry filling did come out while rolling and it was a blueberry mess and got all on the outside of the rolls, BUT it was still very delicious. I used less sugar in the filling too, since my blueberries were naturally sweet. I’ll be making these again!

    • replied:

So glad you enjoyed! The blueberry is a bit runnier than a standard cinnamon roll filling, but will always be delicious.

10/10 delicious!!! Bread dough must be the secret bc they were fluffy tasty and I have a looonnnggg history of messes up recipes and I have never failed an ambitious kitchen recipe. Even this one that was a bit more steps that I usually tackle.

These were incredible! Even my blueberry hating husband loved them! A few things I did:
    – doubled the filling
    – used Miyokos butter, Miyokos cream cheese, and coconut milk for dairy free
    – I double the frosting and use half to frost straight out of oven and half when cool

    We LOVE these!

I NEVER leave comments on recipes I make but I had to for this one!! I’ve tried my hand at cinnamon buns numerous times and have not been able to achieve what this recipe made so easy: fluffy, airy, moist, decadent sweet rolls that melt in your mouth with a complimentary flavor profile.

If the girl that can’t make cinnamon buns can pull this one off so easily, you’ve got to try it! You won’t regret it!!

I have been casually baking bread for 10+ years, and this is by far the softest, most delicious, fantastic roll recipe I have tried. I divided the batch into two 9×9 pans so I could freeze one for later. These don’t even need the frosting, but a small amount does enhance the flavor. Be careful increasing the filling. I thought it might need more so doubled the filling, and ended up not being able to use it because it was so messy to try to roll. I absolutely will make these again!

    • replied:

Amazing – so glad you loved these! And yes, the filling can get messy if there’s too much.

Delicious! It’s hard to beat the cinnamon version, but these are such a nice springy version for Easter. I served them with fresh strawberries and scrambled eggs and they were a hit. I made them the night before and let them rise on the counter while the eggs were hunted. 10/10!

These are delicious! I’ve always made the original cinnamon rolls every year for Christmas and these are a great adaptation for spring! Mine could have used another couple of minutes in the oven, but I think I overstuffed the pan so that’s likely on me. Definitely worth the effort!

I’m obsessed with Monique’s cinnamon rolls and immediately had to give this recipe a try. It did not disappoint. These were somehow fluffier and softer!!!

I weighed all my ingredients and still felt like the dough was a little too sticky so I added about 2 tablespoons of flour. Also not sure if this is just my oven but I do find that covering them in aluminum foil for the first 8 minutes or so when they’re baking helps keep them soft and not over bake.

It was a little messy for me to roll these but they were absolutely worth the mess!!!!! New favorite rolls 😍 10/10

This was my first attempt ever in my life at making something that came from ‘made from scratch’ dough. I found this recipe to easy to follow and am very glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to make these rolls.
I followed the steps, measured correctly and yay! I have beautiful sweet rolls bursting with blueberries. They are thick, fluffy and gorgeous!!

Is there anything better than Lemon and Blueberries?! I think not! 🙂
Thank you for this recipe and for the easy to follow instructions!
