Have you ever tried this with pumpkin?
I’m wondering if canned pumpkin would work… Do they sell it frozen? Hmmmm

Do you peel your sweet potatoes before baking them?

    • replied:

I don’t, but you can if you’d like!

  • says:

Hi, do you use raw or cooked sweet porato? Thanks

    • replied:

You will want to use frozen cooked sweet potato, which can be found in the frozen veggie section of your grocery store. Enjoy!

Wow, this is really good exactly as written! I had frozen sweet potato cubes bought from the store, and those worked great. Highly recommend. The second time I made it, I added two scoops of the suggested Vital Protein collagen peptides (vanilla flavored), and that version was also wonderful.

    • replied:

Nice! Those frozen sweet potatoes are a great shortcut 🙂 Glad you loved it!

Just made this for a post-workout breakfast and it was amazing! My doctor recommended I do a whole30 so I can’t have oats or any of the grains I would normally have for post-workout carbs, but I can have sweet potatoes and wanted to try this. My vanilla protein powder is pretty potent so I think it overpowered the sweet potato flavor a little, but it’s still delicious! I added hemp hearts and riced cauliflower and used unsweetened vanilla coconut yogurt for even more creaminess. I wasn’t ready for fall but I think I am now! 😂

    • replied:

Haha LOVE that, glad it put you in the mood for fall!! So happy you enjoyed it 🙂

    very nice recipe

  • says:

Could this still work with already baked sweet potato? I imagine the consistency might change, but taste wise would it be good?

    • replied:

That should work! Feel free to add a few ice cubes to help it thicken up 🙂

I’ve made this recipe a few times and it’s so good. I used baked sweet potatoes that I had on hand, and used fresh bananas, so I needed to add some ice. I used pb and dairy free milk because it’s what I have on hand. Make the recipe your own (but make sure you use cooked sweet potatoes). The recipe doesn’t specify – should be self explanatory- but I felt like I should add that for people who just need specific details. Try this one- it’s so good!!

Edit- if you read through the blog it does tell you to cook the sweet potatoes. I usually jump to the recipe though.

    • replied:

Perfect! And yes cook those sweet potatoes 🙂

I made this exactly except that I added refrigerated or room temperature ingredients instead of frozen and used the soup function on my Blendtec blender. For reference I had 244 g of mashed sweet potato and 114 g of banana. It was an excellent warm smoothie great for fall or winter. I ate it with a spoon as it was pretty thick.

    • replied:

      Perfect! Glad you enjoyed!

WOW! This is amazing. I left out the yogurt and added two dates for sweetness. I added two scoops of collagen powder to increase the protein. I used frozen sweet potatoes and an unfrozen banana, which worked fine! I also added some ice cubes. Very tasty! I will make this one again. Thank you for the sweet potato pie smoothie!

    • replied:

      Perfect! So happy you enjoyed!

  • says:

Would it work with steamed potatoes? Or does the roasting add a lot of flavour?

    • replied:

      Steamed should be fine! 🙂

I love this recipe – and my kids do too! I usually add spinach to it, and more almond milk as it is very thick and creamy.

So happy this one’s kiddo-approved! One of my favs.

Thank you so much for this recipe! I made it with one medium sweet potato, subbed cashew milk and one apple for the almond milk and banana, added some flaxmeal, and topped it with extra pumpkin pie spice. It made two nice filling smoothies which my boyfriend and I really enjoyed!

    • replied:

Perfect! Glad those swaps worked out well 🙂 such a great breakfast or snack!

    Monique volz;
Hi,I just finished looking at some of your recipes from your website, your cinnamon sweet potato pie smoothie looks so good and I would like to make your smoothie soon but it is high in carbs and sugar.I am a type 2 diabetic on insulin twice a day And I was wondering how I can break down the carbs and sugar in your recipe.I only have a 1 person magic bullet blender and would it be possible to half the recipe to fit it into my blender that will cut back on the carbs and sugar in your recipe.
I love your website and there are lots of recipes for me to check out and make at home.

I thought the coffee lover’s smoothie was going to be my favorite #aksmoothieweek recipe until I tried this one. It is seriously one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had. I only had half of a banana so I cut back to 1/2 cup sweet potato, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt and less almond milk (but kept all the other ingredients the same). It was still very filling and satisfying for breakfast. I wish I had more frozen bananas so I could eat it again for lunch!

    • replied:

Isn’t this one amazing?! It was definitely one of my favs all week, too. Glad you loved it!

    Hi Monique,
Thanks for sharing this kinda awesome resource.
I want to ask you a question about oats.
Actually I love to eat oats a lot.
So, if I use full 3 cups oats in this recipe. Is it chance to lost taste?

    • replied:

Hi! I’d recommend starting with about 1/3 cup so that the smoothie doesn’t get too thick.

        Thanks Monique

  • says:

So those look like yams to me. And would the consistency be ok without adding the absolutely disgusting bananas? And if I used a real sweet potato would it taste better?

    • replied:

First of all, bananas are AMAZING. Second of all, yes you can use 3/4 cup frozen blueberries instead. And I did use sweet potatoes in here, so it will be delicious!

It definitely says “strange” when I hear “sweet potato smoothies”, but I’ll definitely say “yes” for this recipe! Thank you for the heads up of the taste of this smoothie and how to make it even healthier by adding extra ingredients. I’m looking forward to more awesomeness from your #AKSmoothieWeek, Monique <3 <3
