This was seriously so fantastic! AK recipes are always consistently excellent- but this one was very easy, too! Will definitely be making it again!

OMG yum! I just made this last night for dinner, absolutely delicious. I have picky eater kids, so I left one chicken breast out, so they could try it without the gravy, their loss. LOL My husband and I devoured ours. Perfect comfort food, without being crazy heavy. We served it over some German Egg noodles, so the spatzel style gave it a fun texture to absorb the gravy. Quick and easy to make, will definitely revisit this one.

I’m not a big gravy person, but this had me putting extra on my plate- it was AMAZING! The entire family went back for seconds! Definitely worth making; this is gonna be on repeat in our house until further notice

This is a real treat—gravy is wonderful. I am vegetarian and subbed cubed roasted tofu for the chicken. Worked out great. I’m a big fan of fresh parmesan cheese. Also added some green peas and a bit of celery. This was holiday fare and I made it for Christmas. Lots of Monique’s recipes with chicken can easily be made vegetarian by using beans or tofu. Thank you for all the “good eats.”

    • replied:

I love that you were able to easily make this vegetarian and just as delicious! A win 🙂

Made this for my family for the second time, and they scarfed it down! I paired it with garlic mashed potatoes, yum.

This was delicious! I modified it because I wanted leftovers. I doubled everything and didn’t butterfly the chicken. I used four large breasts and after preparing the gravy (minus the Parmesan), I popped the whole thing in the oven in my covered Dutch oven at 400 degrees for approximately 30 more minutes until the chicken was fully cooked. My picky kids gobbled it up over mashed potatoes and we served with green beans. My son said it was like Thanksgiving dinner. Definitely not a 30 minute recipe this way, but I’m very much looking forward to leftovers!!!

    • replied:

Perfect! So glad everyone loved it!

I need a dinner to serve guest. Could this be made ahead of time and kept warm for an hour or so?

    • replied:

I’m sure it could be made ahead and kept warm in the oven, but the gravy may thicken too much. Let me know if you give it a try!

Can you give me any recommendations for freezing and reheating this recipe to ensure success for a dinner party?

I was pleasantly surprised how quickly this came together for a week night dinner! I used the recommended egg noodles and dried thyme and garlic instead of fresh since I didn’t feel like chopping it up. Will definitely make again!

    • replied:

      Amazing! Glad you enjoyed!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This was so yummy!! I thought it came together quickly, I followed the recipe to a tee and it was perfect. I served it with egg noodles and sautéed green beans.

Oh my GOODESS!!! This is the ultimate Comfort Food in my opinion! Get this — I made it in September 2024, and put the leftovers in the freezer since we were leaving the next day on a long vacation. It ended up hidden in the back of the freezer, and I just discovered it today – one year later. It was absolutely fantastic! I heated it up in the microwave low and slow, and served it over some fresh egg noodles. Hubby was licking the last of the gravy out of his bowl, no kidding. I followed the recipe exactly except I used boneless skinless thighs instead of breasts. Good thing I labeled the container so I could go back and find the recipe. Love your meals, Monique!

    • replied:

No way!! I’m glad it was still delicious! One of my favorite comfort food dinners 🙂

Delicious! I made it as directed. I did use 4 tablespoons of flour so will either do 3 next time or a little more chicken broth/milk mixture so it wasn’t as thick gravy. Was even thinking it would be tasty with frozen peas added during the last 5 minutes. I made sheet pan broccoli and zucchini for a veggie on the side. We served over egg noodles but I bet mashed potatoes would be good too!

    • replied:

Peas would be delicious, too! Glad you loved this!

SUPER GROOVY!!! I tripled the meat, mushrooms and spices, used 16 oz of whipping cream, added kale and it is so tasty! Tastes like creamy cheesy pasta sauce. Thank you again, Monique!

This was so good! I made it with noodles, but I would make it with mashed potatoes next time. It seemed to take a long time to make the gravy, but I have a soon to be 2 year old that was impatient for my attention.

      Glad it was a hit!

This is a little bit time consuming to make because of all the different steps and then making the gravy, but it’s not complicated and the end result is delicious and creamy! I accidentally used unsweetened vanilla almond milk for the sauce, which made it a little weird with the vanilla, haha, but it was still pretty good and I can’t wait to try it again with normal milk :).

    • replied:

There are quite a few steps but yes, at least they’re super easy! I’ve done that before (accidentally using vanilla almond milk) and it is interested haha – the flavor will be much better using regular milk 🙂

Another incredible recipe. The flavors were soo good. Easy to put together. Such comfort food. That gravy!!! Yum!!

Can you make these with boneless skinless chicken thighs?

    • replied:

      Yes, that should work!

  • says:

I would like to know if this would still taste good without the parmesan?
    Thanks

    • replied:

Hi! The gravy will be thinner and have a much less salty / savory flavor.

Make this today! I followed the recipe as written, which I usually do the first time I try something new, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I served it over a combination of mashed potatoes and mashed cauliflower, and it was delicious. It got high marks from my husband as well. This is definitely a recipe I see myself adding to my regular winter meal rotation.
