Healthy turkey chili made with lean ground turkey, kidney beans and corn. This version is simply the BEST! Can be made on the stovetop or in your slow cooker.
I normally don’t declare recipes the best for just any reason. In fact, if I’m saying something is the BEST, then it’s for a very good reason. Most often because I had multiple people try out a recipe and tell me it’s the best thing they’ve ever tasted; this happens most frequently when I bake cookies.
Little did I expect this turkey chili to surprise me with it’s thick texture and addicting flavor. But my goodness, it is wonderful. And I do have to admit that I’ve made it four times in the past month. It’s one of those recipes you can tuck in your recipe box or bookmark on your phone. Honestly, I’m just obsessed.
MY LATEST VIDEOS

Over in my world, we decided to do an eating challenge until Thanksgiving. It’s a mixture between paleo, Whole30 and clean eating. Today marks Day 7 and so far we’ve been successful but still challenged on what to cook or eat for lunch. The plan is to stick to a grain free, refined sugar free diet with plenty of vegetables and high-protein meats. I think the hardest part might be eliminating alcohol, frozen yogurt and chips. I don’t know when I became such a chip person, but I’ve been craving them like CRAZY the past two days.
For a little background, we’re really just doing this as a challenge to eat healthier and reset cravings. Often times I find us going out for pizza, french fries and beer. Not only is it a waste of money, but it isn’t a healthy habit when you do it too often. I also want to make sure that Tony understands what it means to nourish your body with GOOD, real food made from scratch.

Don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted as we continue along our journey. And as an FYI, the recipes coming your way for the next month were all previously tested and photographed, so please don’t think I’m just eating cookies and pies on my challenge. Although, that could be my next challenge?
Jokes.
For now, I hope this chili brings you comfort during the cooler evenings that are approaching. It’s absolutely wonderful paired with these honey pumpkin cornbread muffins.

To make this recipe in the slow cooker: Reduce the chicken broth to 1/2 cup and brown the turkey and onions before adding to the slow cooker. This is an awesome tailgating or football party recipe!

Hi Monique! This sounds amazing! Do you think I could make it in a crock pot?
Absolutely. You can put everything in the crockpot and cook for 7 hours on low or 3 hours on high, then break up the meat!
Do I need to cook meat before I put stuff in crock pot?
yes 🙂
when I cook the meat, should I cook the peppers and onions with it if I am putting in the crock pot? thank you!
I have the same question as Dana. I’m cooking in the crockpot. Do I still sautee the onions and peppers?
Hi Britt and Dana! Yes – I would sautee the onions and peppers first 🙂
Just so I have this right? I am cooking this for my fiancé and I tonight and was a little confused if i cook the meat prior to putting it into the crockpot for 7 hours? Thanks!
Hi Paul! I would recommend browning the meat a bit beforehand (to break it up, as ground turkey comes in that large block). And then add it to your crockpot!
I made this recipe last week and it was absolutely divine!! The chili wasn’t even mildly spicy really and i used all 4 tablespoons of chili! I am making this again tonight and i will throw in a jalapeño pepper!
Loved it!
Hi! I made this recipe exactly as written along with the pumpkin honey cornbread muffins for my husband and 1 year old son over the weekend and it was a huge hit! My husband added some chili oil to give it more heat. Will be making it again. Thanks Monique!
Do you know what the time to cook would be in an instant pot?
How much saturated fat is in this chili? Thanks!
Hi Amy! I didn’t calculate saturated fat in this one, but it will be very minimal based on the total fat content!
Out of curiosity, were the nutrition facts based on the addition of the fixins recommended (i.e., avocado, corn tortilla chips, sour cream, etc.)? I just made this last night, and my gf and I really enjoyed it – we’re definitely going to make it again!
They’re just based on the chili itself! Glad you guys enjoyed this one 🙂
I made this chili yesterday for dinner. It was a cold, rainy bay area evening and this hit the spot!!! Great chili recipe!!! I am going to make this for the Super Bowl party I am attending!
i’m normally not into turkey (why have turkey when you can have beef? or if i really don’t want to deal with meat, just beans?), but this sounds so flavorful that i have to try it out! and somehow i still haven’t tried those muffins, so it seems like the perfect opportunity to do that (:
I don’t like the flavor of beef at all, so that’s why I always choose turkey. 🙂 Plus, it’s leaner and you get the protein. hope you like this recipe + the muffins! Have a great weekend!
I’m the absolute same as you! I don’t like the flavor of beef! This was a wonderful recipe. I’m someone who craves a good spicy meal so I made have added a bit more jalapeno 😉
Thanks for posting!
This looks sooo delicious! Lately I have really been liking chili and I want to try and make some at home. This looks so good. I’m not a big fan of beef, so it’s good that this recipe has turkey. Thanks for sharing!

Just made this. So delicious!!! Very easy to make. Yum!! Tried to give a a five start but it wouldn’t let me.
Have you ever tried Kosher Ground beef? Its very good and has a different taste then non Kosher meat. Trader joes has a kosher section in there meat area.. most grocerry stores carry something kosher, just have to look harder for it.
im making mine right now! i used bone broth instead and added a jalapeno!
Oh yum!!
NEED! making this asap!
This looks really good! I will have to try it soon.
This is ridiculously good. Making it again for a friend. We used the leftovers and made “choking tacos” the second day.
Chili tacos* 😝 Although when you eat so fast you stand the risk of choking
Love the “Next day” part Andy! I don’t like cooking and after being at work all day, I love using the same food for two days in a row with a little tweak 🙂
This looks amazing! I just made chilli, love it !

Tonight I cooked dinner for the first time in over a year. I made meatloaf and it turned out amazing. I’m an aspiring stay at home dad(when we have kids one day) so I’d like to keep the momentum going. This recipe looks great and I think I’ll knock my wife’s socks off if I make dinner two nights in a row.
Joe! Your comment made my day – I hope you make this for your wife tonight!
Thank you for this amazing recipe! I’ve tried like a bazillion chili recipes over the last few years and this is definitely a classic! I’m curious if Joe from above made it as I was thinking this recipe was so easy, even my husband could make it!
sexist lol
Absolutely delicious! My whole family loved it. It was hearty, tasty, and filling. Thanks for an awesome recipe!
This sounds great! So you just used diced tomatoes and chicken broth instead of tomato sauce, correct? This has to lower the sugar quite a bit.
Oh wow, this is simply amazingly delicious.. They just look so inviting that I could grab it right off the screen
Made this tonight and it was delicious but WAY too spicy! I think next time I will use half as much chili powder.
I love this chili recipe as is! So flavorful! I am looking to adapt this for vegetarians for chili day at work, do you think it would work in a crock pot if i left out the turkey and subbed quinoa in? Would I need more liquid?
Substitute the corn for a can of chickpea, much healthier and nutritious. Add 1 tsp. cinnamon and nutmeg, your tastebuds will be amazed.
I’m putting this on the menu for this week.
Is the can of diced tomatoes supposed to be drained? This chilli is really delicious but mine came out quite soupy. I had to add cornstarch to thicken it up. I will definitely make this recipe again!
That’s odd. I’ve made this 3-4 times and it’s always very thick for me! No draining of the tomatoes required.
I’m having the same challenge. After simmering with the lid on for 45 minutes I took out 1/2 cup of liquid and there’s still more. Should I be using crushed tomatoes instead of diced?
No lid on. You want to simmer your chili uncovered to allow it to simmer down a bit. Mine came out perfect and was delicious. I added 1/2 a finely diced seeded jalapeno w/ the veggies and accidentally drained one of the cans of tomatoes before realizing I wasn’t supposed to, so I added a whole can of Rotel Hot tomatoes and it was delicious. Beware – I like my food spicy so don’t follow my lead with the Hot Rotel tomatoes unless you do, too. LOL
I followed to a t and mine was watery as well.
Did you drain the corn and beans? If not it would cause it to be soupy.
Are any of the tomatoes or beans supposed to be drained and/or rinsed?
The beans and corn are supposed to be drained, not the tomatoes.
If you leave it covered while it simmers, it will not absorb as much liquid as keeping the lid off will.
I love this chili recipe. I’ve used it so many times for friends and family. Should totally enter this chili contest! I think you have a good chance at winning!
http://bushbeans.thedailymeal.com/
Can I substitute black beans for the kidney beans? This looks delicious! Can’t wait to make it!
Of course! I think that sounds amazing!
Couldn’t find red beans here in Italy so I used black beans and it was amazing. Making a second batch right now because it was such a hit the first time.
*also side note for those who say it’s watery try using fresh diced tomatoes instead of canned.
Delicious! So glad you enjoyed.
This was delicious. We just added another pound of turkey and a can of kidney beans to have leftovers.
Did you have to double up on any of the other ingredients when adding extra turkey and beans?
Do you think this recipe would freeze well if I wanted to make extras?
lol as opposed to freezing poorly?
It should, especially if you have one of those food savers. I’ve had leftovers and this is the third day in the fridge, so far so good. It still tastes as fresh and delicious as day one.
Currently making this, but after scrolling through the comments I realized the beans and corn were supposed to be drained. You should include that when listing the ingredients or in the instructions.
So sorry — fixing now! 🙂 Also, just simmer the turkey chili a little longer until it thickens up a bit. Enjoy!
You always drain the beans and corn!
This was SO SO good. Any idea how much saturated fat? Trying to figure out the Weight Watcher’s points.
Well it depends on if you use extra lean turkey or just regular lean turkey. Feel free to calculate the nutrition using MyFitnessPal or something similar. Sorry, I don’t do weight watchers points!
Angie, good question. It’s not easy to calculate this, it depends on what exact meat do you use, as Monique said. I calculated this recipe (with no topping) on our Recipe Analyzer and here are estimated values per serving (1/6 of recipe):
326 kcal
Protein: 29.14 g
Fat: 5.74 g
Carbohydrates: 45.26 g
Total saturated: 1.006 g
Total trans: 0.014 g
Cholesterol: 43 mg
I assumed ground turkey free fat. As you can see, this values are not exactly te the same as provided on this post, it depends what ingredients do you use.
Loved this recipe!! I am trying to figure out how much 1/6. Of the recipe is without literally dividing it into portions. Have any idea about much a serving it is in ounces or cups?
I was also hoping someone would nerd out and post the cups per serving data 🙂 anyone out there?
I might do that next week when I make it again, but hopefully someone does it before that. 🙂
The nutrition information is excluding any toppings right?
Thank you! Yes, I used ground turkey and no toppings. And no beans (only because I forgot them.)
I made this in the crockpot last week and it was delicious! My crockpot must be small because I couldn’t fit the second can of beans in. Regardless, I will definitely make this again!
Regarding those cravings…. My dissappeared when I stopped all types of sugarsand substitutes incl the ok ones… Along with no grains of any kind … Suprised me… By day 4 the fog and aches lifted… I fee free…
LOVED IT AND SO DID MY HUSBAND!!!
This is a good recipe for turkey chili. I changed few things as I always do. I used Rotel tomatoes with green chilis, low salt. I added a chopped seeded Jalepeno. I used beef broth instead of chicken. Frozen corn. I also added a cup.of black rice.
Just a side note: It wax already a d3 Lucio us recipe.
Thanks
I made this tonight. Forgot to rinse and drain the kidney beans and just realized. How would you judges to thicken the chilli now?
This. Chili. Is. AMAZING. I made it today since it’s super cold in New England and I honestly just want to sit inside the pot of it and never get out. I HIGHLY recommend it. Thank you so much for the recipe! I’m absolutely in love!
Happy you liked it, MacKenzie!
Made this and the flavor was amazing but it was WAY too spicy! I feel like I eat most anything, so I’m feeling kind of weird that this felt so spicy to me. 🙂 None of my kids could eat it so my husband and I are left with the huge batch. I’m pretty sure cayenne pepper is spicier than chili powder, so I’ll probably leave that out, and maybe take the chili powder down to 3 TBSP instead of 4. I also split the chili powder-half regular and half chipotle chili powder. I also made the pumpkin cornbread muffins and they helped soften the spice if I ate a bite of the muffin with a bite of the chili.
Thanks for the recipes! This was an easy meal to make, which is so helpful on busy days!
So strange! Can I ask what kind of chili powder you use? I use McCormick and mine is perfect and definitely not too spicy to eat (I’ve made this recipe about 10x now!).
The same thing happened to me and I only used 3 Tablespoons of Red Chili instead of 4 TBS and it was way too much. I use red chili powder from the Indian grocery stores. I think even 1, maybe 2 would be the right amount, and at least a good start, and then people can adjust as they see fit. When it’s too spicy, it prevents people from eating it.
The chili powder you buy in Indian groceries is WAY hotter than the stuff labeled “chili powder” everywhere else. If you read most American “chili powder” labels, they often include other ingredients. The one in my cabinet says: chili pepper, salt, cumin, oregano, garlic. The ingredient label on the package from the Indian store says: chili pepper.
I had the same experience. I usually enjoy spicy food but with this I couldn’t even finish a serving without it hurting my whole mouth. I’m not using spices from an Indian grocery store, but I agree 4 TBS was way too much. Since the spice was so mild in the original recipe, it should be adjusted that way. If anything the recipe should say 2 TBS and then people can add more to taste.
Oh well, thanks for the recipe, but considering changing the actual recipe instead of leaving a paragraph at the bottom saying your using a less spicy chili powder, its easy to overlook and not an easy fix once you add too much.
Chipotle chili powder is VERY spicy, no wonder you couldn’t eat it!
This was pretty easy to make and ridiculously delicious! I didn’t have oregano so I used Italian seasoning and also used crushed red pepper instead of cayenne. I will definitely be making this again — beats the previous recipe I used to use with packets of taco and ranch seasoning!!! Much healthier and I know everything going into it 🙂
Glad you love this healthier alternative!
Hi
If I use crockpot Am i just throwing in all
The ingredients but cook meat first then put it in crockpot? And then cook it on high for 7hrs..? Doesn’t that overcook the meat
And not a fan of tomatoes.could I still use tomatoe sauce?
This was so easy to make and it was really really delish. I can’t eat very spicy food, so I put 2 tablespoons of Chilli instead of 4. Thanks 🙂
If making this in a crockpot for double servings (we are making it for a party) do we need to cook it for longer?
Hi Monique,
I’m making the chili as I write this. We are getting lots of snow here in coastal Connecticut. I’m thinking of having this for dinner. What are your thoughts about cooling down and refrigerating?
This was some of the best darn chili I’ve ever had! Only changes I made were minor. I put in about 5 cloves of minced garlic and used two different brands of beans. One from Goya had some kind of red sauce I couldnt get off but it tasted great! I also added a few tablespoons of brown sugar at the end to kill the heat for my wife. She NEVER eats chili. As I write this she is on her 4th bowl! Fantastic recipe!
This was so delicious ! Made it tonight for my girlfriend and I – do not cover this I did half way through and was not thickening – took the lid off and it did take some more time but eventually did ! Added half a jalapeño spice was perfect – thanks for a great warm recipe during the blizzard we have today 🙂
Making this again for the second time in two weeks(so yummy!) but I realized I forgot to buy more diced tomatoes 🙁 Can I substitute tomato sauce??
Yum! Made tonight and it was great. Didn’t have cayenne but added 1/2 chopped jalapeno and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes. My hubby doesn’t like beans so I cubed a large sweet potato and added an extra can of corn. Will make again thanks for the recipe!
Hi Monique! I love this recipe. I want to make it in the crockpot as well. Would you suggest browning the meat first? Thanks!
Hi Lauren! Yes, I think browning the meat first would be best for flavor. 🙂
I made this recipe tonight. Made a few tweaks to adjust to I ingredients I had on hand.
2 1/2 T chili powder in lieu of 4T
1T Trader Joes 21 Seasoning Salute
(Was out of Oregano so used this as a substitute and since it also has cumin in it I only used 1 t of actual cumin)
Chicken broth…only used 1 cup in lieu of 1 1/4 cup
Diced Tomatoes–used 1-15oz can in lieu of what recipe calls for.
Substituted one can of pinto beans for 2nd can kidney beans
Orange & yellow peppers rather than red
Turned out fabulous. I think I added a tad extra sea salt and some extra cayenne pepper but it really wasn’t overly spicy. Thanks for the great recipe!
Going to have to try out the suggestion to use Garbanzo beans, cinnamon and nutmeg…
This turned out awesome. I used crushed tomatoes instead of diced and added 1 chopped jalapeno w/seeds removed for a hint of heat. Other than that, followed the recipe to the T and it was perfect.
Hi Monique, I’m going to make this this weekend! Just wondering if I double the recipe can I throw it all in the crock pot still or would the cooking instructions be different?
You’ll need a very large crockpot, but I think you can throw it all in. I would reduce the broth to 1 cup (so 2 cups if you are doubling). You may also want to brown the meat first.
I would like to try this in a crockpot, as well. Do I need to cook anything prior to just chucking it in?
You could brown the meat beforehand if you’d like.
GOT MY SUPER BOWL RECIPE RIGHT HERE!! WILL BE GREAT TO SHARE.
This was absolutely fantastic! My husband who doesn’t do spicy ate it twice, and I even added a jalapeno! I also took some to work and gave some to a Hispanic coworker, and he raved about how good it was. I did use the 93 lean turkey. I’m too afraid that the 99 will be too dry. I will be making this qgain tomorrow in the crock pot.
Hi Monique, I’m just wondering if I’m doubling the recipe can I throw everything in the crock pot still? How would the cooking instructions change if the recipe is doubled? Thanks!!
Awesome. Made some for Super Bowl party and ALL of it was devoured. Excellent and simple recipie. My wife liked it so much I am making some for us right now since I had extra toppings left. Wonderful recipie. Keep up the good work!!!
This is the best recipe I’ve made in a long time! I use different bell peppers and White northern beans. SO GOOD, made it twice in 2 weeks already!
Wonderful!
I made this for my family a couple weeks ago and they loved it, especially my children, 13, 6, & 2. I made it exactly as the recipe calls & wouldn’t change a thing. We’re having people over this weekend & I’m hoping to please them with this recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Very good! I cooked it in the crockpot, but first did all of step 1 as listed above. I then added the cooked and seasoned meat, onion, and pepper, to the crockpot wit all the other ingredients. Cooked on low for 7 hours and then took off the top and simmered for an hour to thicken it. Also added a splash of balsamic vinegar. Was very good!!
This looks great! How does it freeze?
This was great I cut the chili powder a bit for my kids and realized I only had one can of beans so I threw in a large chopped up sweet potato it was great!
This chili was very tasty but way to spicy. I love spice but thought 4 tablespoons of chili powder was too much. I cut back to 2 and it was still too spicy. I will make again but maybe with 1 tablespoon and adjust at the end.
Just posted thT I also found it too spicy. I used an Indian chili. Maybe that was the issue. Will try again as I love the base flavour.
Yes, indian chilis are extremely hot. I would not recommend using them in this recipe.
Hit the spot. Easy to make and healthy.
This is the best chili I’ve made!! I did add some things though. Include some jalapeños and a dry ranch packet. YUMMY!
YES, YES AND YES!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t think it would be good with the turkey but I tried (since I can’t eat beef), and I loved it!!!!! I just added some tomato paste and voilà delicious!!!!! Thank you for this delicious recipe
Hubby is making this for dinner tonight (in the crock pot), can’t wait to get home and try it!!
I made this chili just like the recipe and my husband said it is the BEST chili I have ever made. Thanks for the recipe!
When cold weather hits, one of my go to meals is chili. The older I get, the more I try to avoid that cheesy goodness and don’t even get me started on the cornbread…I have probably tried 10-15 turkey chili recipes, but none ever wowed me. I still had a void. This was the first time turkey chili, dare I say, surpassed most all other chili recipes! Well done, it is absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Making the recipe right now! I precook everything on the stove but finishing it in the crockpot, it’s late so I’ll leave it in slow mode so it’ll be ready tomorrow! thank you for the recipe Yummm 🙂
Just have to be be careful with the chicken broth if you are claiming this is gluten free. Not all chicken broth is so check labels if you have celiac
delicious! it had a real mouth burn but i suspect it had something to do with the 7 hours in the slow cooker . it is added to the list. thanks so much
ive been experimenting with different veggie and turkey chilis for months… im finally content putting this one into the rotation. i loved it i never would have thought to take out the sauce and put broth in it place. YUM!
Hi, Monique! I came across your recipe a few days ago and made it tonight and we absolutely loved it!! This is the first chili recipe that I will want to make over and over again. I am not huge kidney bean fan so I only used one can and found it was the perfect amount for us. I was so hungry and anxious to eat that I even forgot to use the toppings!! Good thing we are a two person household and will have left overs for a few days. Thanks for sharing! I look forward to cooking more of your recipes.
Thanks for the inspiration!
What an Awesome Chili !!!!
I’m a little late to the game, but I’m making your chili this afternoon. It’s a snowy say here in CT (can you believe it!) and my husband and I will be enjoying some good ole (healthy) comfort food. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I googled healthy turkey chili and your recipe was the second I chose.
I made it this morning too and have enough to last me for the next few days. I tried it for lunch and it was so good. I’m not a hot chili person but I like spices in my food. I thought it was just perfect. I just stored it away and a tiny bit and tastes the spices. Although I didn’t have cayenne pepper I put black pepper lol
I will be making it again. Directions were on point and honestly I don’t like the crock pot I put it in for the 45 minutes. Ok enough said
Thanks
I have just made this Chilli and feel very annoyed. I chose this recipe because of the 5 star rating. I fell sure the recipe has a mistake. 4 tablespoons of chilli powder is ridiculous. Just had to throw it all in the bin. Waste of money and my time.
You threw it out because it had 4 tbsp of chili powder? If it’s because it was spicy, then you used the wrong chili powder.
Hello! I just wanted to thank you for this amazing chili! It was a huge hit – loved all the flavors (especially the amount of chili powder mixed with sweet corn!). So yummy, thank you again 🙂
this is an amazing chili…love it. healthy, wonderful flavor and a big hit. glad i found your site. will be back for more recipes…
This was such a delicious and easy recipe, thx for posting it! Had to add quite a bit more chili powder but I think that’s just my personal preference. Anyways it was perfect for a rainy day
I made this for dinner and the flavors are amazing, everyone loved it, except a little to spicy. Next time I will cut the cayenne in half.
This chili is the best I never eat.
Thanks Monique !!!
Ce Chili est le meilleur que j’ai mangé.
Merci Monique.

Hi Monique! I am making this chili for dinner tonight for the second time in a weeks (WAY TOO DELICIOUS NOT TO MAKE IT AGAIN!) However, I am doubling the recipe since I am cooking for my in laws tonight. Do you recommend doubling all the ingredients? I read your recommendation on the chicken broth and already measured only 2 cups. I am concerned it will come out too spicy with the chili powder, what do you think?
I made this tonight and it was everything. I absolutely loved it and my family too. Thank you for this great recipe!
I made this for dinner tonight and it was everything. The flavor is amazing and me and my family loved it. Thank you for this great recipe.
Thank you so much for this recipe Monique. It was absolutely delicious. I love making chili and I am always on the look out for new chili recipes. This was my first time making chili with chicken broth, it turned out too soupy for me (I like my chili a lot thicker) so I added some flour. I also substituted the pepper for mushrooms. The flavour was absolutely delightful, can’t wait to add this recipe to my dinner rotation. xx
This chili was a hit with my family! My husband asked for seconds, I followed the recipe to a T however, I added some Ketchup ( to sweeten it up) and seasoning salt to enhance flavor. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I have pictures that I will post to your FB. Thanks again ?
Exact words from my fiance when I made this chili: “That is the best chili you have ever made”!
It was sooo spicy, but if I add it to sweet potato or something like that, it is bearable. I used Indian chili powder so that’s probably why 4 tblsp was incredibly spicy. also, I am Mexican and love anything spicy so it is kind of strange that something is almost too spicy. Otherwise, delicious!
This was delicious! At first, I thought wow, that’s a lot of hot, and I love hot, so I was cautious as I added the heat. I ended up using the same amount and it’s great. Recommend those that are sensitive to heat to try this technique. Thanks for the Recipe.
also, i used ground pork and tasted the same as ground turkey
I made this chili tonight and it was fabulous! I have to admit I tweaked it a little. I did half ground sausage and half turkey because I needed wanted to give it a little kick with the meat (yeah…it is a little fattier) and my sob curls up his lips when turkey is mentioned. The chili powder was half regular chili powder and half Hot Mexican chili powder. Gives it a nice spiciness. Great recipe!
I just made this for maybe the third time since I found the recipe on Pinterest. It really is the best chili. I think it’s the chicken broth that kicks it up a notch. It’s so much more flavorful than chili I usually make. Love it!
I made this chilli once before and loved it and I tried again tonight, and while it tastes yummy, the broth is very liquid. I made it in the same way but all I can think of that was different is the first time I took it over to a friend’s house after making it and reheated it there. Should I let this cool and see if it thickens after that? Or is there something else I should do to thicken it now? Thank you!!
Also is the nutritional information with the toppings or before you add the toppings? Thank you!
The nutrition info for the turkey chili is without the toppings. If your broth is liquid like you could add in a tablespoon or two of tomato paste, or just simmer longer. It also should thicken up the next day. If you want to make it again, just reduce the broth by 1/2 cup. 🙂
This chili is delicious!! I reduced the serving size and was able to squeeze two weeks out of it to store in the freezer.
We enjoyed this even on a hot day here in Central Pennsylvania! YUMMERS! My kids and husband don’t like kidney beans, so I put a can of black beans in place of one of the kidney beans (I like the kidney beans so kept one can!) I also doubled the tomatoes and seasons and added another pound of meat. Excellent! Thanks for sharing!
Great chili recipe! It was so simple to pull together and the flavors are delicious. Thanks for the recipe!
This came out so amazing! Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!
I made this chili this morning (Sunday) and plan on eating it for lunch all week. It’s fantastic!! Topped it with a 1/4 avocado, dollop of plain Greek yogurt, and a liiittttle bit of sharp cheddar. So good! 🙂
I made this last night and it was delicious! I am just wondering how you portioned it off. How big is a portion? 1 cup? 2 cups? It seemed to make a lot more than 6.
I love this recipe!! Made it for the first time last week. We’re huge spicy food fans but I dislike bell peppers, so I just subbed the bell pepper for 4 seeded jalapeños. Oh and I used some grilled corn I had in the freezer instead of the canned corn, and it still turned out delicious. On my way to the grocery store now to pick up ingredients for a 2nd batch!
I just made this today and OMG it was amazing!!! This will be a go to in my household from now on. So delicious.
I made this tonight and it was delicious, definitely not too spicy, though my family loves spice! Down to my two-year old we all loved this! I added two jalapeños and some chopped carrots and used fresh corn, also one can of kidney beans and one of black beans to add color and more texture, came out great!
I’m making this for a second week in a row! Last week it didn’t make it more than 2 days before it was gobbled up! Thanks!
Monique. .. I used up the rest of my turkey from our Canadian Thanksgiving . It was delish and a keeper recipe!!
So I am currently making this right now for the first time and was really excited about it, but it’s soupy. Simmering didn’t thicken it at all. I had to increase the heat to get rid of the “water”. I followed the recipe exactly so I’m not sure what happened 🙁
This was FANTASTIC! So much better than store bought mixes. I was a bit skeptical using ground turkey breast but WOW! So much favor and so much healthier than the fatty versions. I can’t wait to make this again.
This is in the crock now. Browned the garlic and onions on the stove stop first with olive oil. Put in the turkey, browned that. Threw in the crock, with the tomatoes, corn and beans. (I hate beans so I did one can!) my local store had no red peppers anywhere so that’s the only thing I left out. Measured spices & everything else to the T and this came out SO DELICIOUS. I also wanna add I like soupy chili so I did keep the original recipe for the chicken broth.( I noticed your side note just before commenting lol so it’s ok that I kept your recipe exact aside from the beans & red bell) My mom does “box flavor” for chili and she would just die over this. Thank you!!
This didn’t last long, it was delicious and they all wanted seconds! I ran out of chilli powder (oops) and so it only had 1TBSP rather than 3, but was actually perfect like that so I’ll probably do the same next time. There will most certainly be a next time!!
Great flavors!! I also substituted garbanzo beans for the corn and used a heaping teaspoon of Emeril’s southwest seasoning mix. I drained the liquid after I sautéed the vegetables and turkey. Will definitely make this again.
Can you tell me how many cups of chili this made?
Excellent chili and not too hot. In fact, I used diced tomatoes with chilis for more kick. I also substituted northern beans for kidney beans because we like white beans better than kidney. It’s still delicious.
How can this be adapted to the 21 Day Fix portion containers? And what constitutes 1 serving?
Hi Lucy! I’m not familiar with the 21 day fix, so I’m afraid I can’t answer this question! 1 serving = about 1 1/2 cups.
I was looking for a good recipe for left over turkey from Thanksgiving! This fit the bill perfectly. I let the chili simmer a bit before I put the cooked turkey in there. It turned out amazing! Thank you. I have not been able to master Turkey Soup, so this is now my ‘go to’ with left over turkey. I have an extra batch of leftovers I am saving for another day. Thanks for the great recipe! Looking forward to leftovers for lunch today!
Approximately how much is 1/6 of the recipe? 1 cup? Thanks!
For us it was about one ladle-ful. I should have measured it but instead I ladled into our bowls and then into tupperware for the rest. So maybe more like a cup and a half? Maybe 2? It was so good we might have more than one serving, haha!
My husband hates beans, but I convinced him to give this a try. I tried to swing it my way, saying that red kidney beans are a “meatier bean” and that he would be ok. He said ok. Smelled amazing! We did it in the crockpot and couldn’t wait the 3hrs, so we added some flour to thicken it and served it up. Decided to use tortilla chips to dip, and I put sour cream/cheese/avocado on mine. Heaven!! We both LOVED it!! The chips added extra salt so we didnt need more than the 1/4tsp the recipe called for. We are only sad that 1 serving was so little haha. We may cheat a little and have extra. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi I’m cooking this today and wanted to make 2 pounds do I double the ingredient?
Hi Monique,
This is my go-to anytime I want to make chili! I love that it is easy to put in the crockpot too. I’m always looking for food that is on the healthier side and with all the veggies and turkey instead of red meat, this one is definitely a win.
Thanks for making healthy so easy,
Katie
When you put in the crock pot do you use 1 1/4 cup of chicken broth still ? Thanks do much ,
Megan
You can reduce the chicken broth to 1/2 cup!
Mine went completely dry 🙁 wasn’t my favorite recipe.
I love this recipe! We’ve made it a few times and done it in the crockpot. Sooooo good!
too much beans for my taste although I will tweak the recipe next time to add more meat and less beans and I think it will be perfect.
Just in the process of making the chilli it’s in the slow cooker do you know how much saturated fat he would calculate this to be I’m trying to figure out my weight watchers points for this recipe
love this! Made it tonight and putting it in my recipe book! So yummy! I added some chilli sauce to mine too 😉
Hi! So excited to make this! Do you know what the nutritional information would be if you didn’t include corn?
Great turkey chili recipe! I made it last night and my husband & I both loved it. I used 1 can of red kidney beans and 1 can of black beans just to mix things up a little. I think chickpeas would also be delicious in it, and I might try adding a green pepper as well. I also added a little extra chicken broth (probably 2 cups total) because it didn’t seem like there would be quite enough liquid to simmer for 1/2 hour; and I used 1/2 tsp cayenne instead of 1/4 which was the perfect amount of spicy for us. So happy I get to bring this for lunch today!
This is the BEST turkey chili recipe ever! Thank you so much Monique.
Well, I’m making this chili right now, it’s still simmering and OH MY GOSH, it is sooooo good. I didn’t realize it called for 2 cans of kidney beans, so I threw in a can of black beans. I added a little extra chili powder and a jalapeño, because my boyfriend and I are spicy food junkies. It’s national bean day, so I thought this would be a perfect way to celebrate. Haha
It’s AMAZING. I never leave comments, but this totaaaaallly deserved one. Love love love love it. Thank you!!
I have made this recipe twice and it is delicious! I made extra and put it in the freezer. The perfect comfort food for winter.
Lovely one I just tried them, any other amazing recipes you proud enough to share? Thanks
I made this and it was fantastic! I wish I didn’t leave out the extra chili powder! I added jalapenos to my serving, as well as some plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream. I wouldn’t use a crock pot, only because this took me about an hour to make from start to finish. I’ll definitely be taking a look at more AK’s recipes!
We love the recipe just as is but my daughter makes a vat of it and adds white, red and black beans in it for color. McCormicks apple dry rub is a nice touch also….adds a little smoke flavor. She freezes it and takes it off to college.
Thanks!
I have made this for my diet. I use a whole bag of chopped broccoli instead of corn. I used 6oz tomato paste + 22oz water instead of canned tomatoes. Sometimes I add a cup of cooked quinoa for a thicker chili. I have made this at least 6Xs and I take it to work for my lunch. It’s such a great recipe and so easy to make.
This is my first time EVER substituting beef with turkey. Family says 10/10 will eat again! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe! Delicious.
Made this as meal prep for my coming shift. Ended up halfing the recipe because I cant eat the same thing for 7 days straight. I also just used water instead of chicken broth and this is so delicious! I didn’t think it was too spicy at all! 😀
Thank you! This is an outstanding recipe for the ketogenic lifestyle. We made it precisely according to your recipe and it was flawless. Our new favorite!
I made this chili for dinner tonight and it was without a doubt the best chili I’ve ever made or eaten. I was able to use unsalted black beans and tomatoes which means I can eat as much as I want. Well… Thanks for the recipe.
Rave reviews from our friends at our football playoff game get-together!!! I cooked the chili Saturday night in a sauté pan, uncovered, which made it nice and thick. After reading the reviews, I used 3 tbsp. of chili powder instead of 4. It wasn’t spicy enough for me, but I put out sliced jalapeños with the other toppings. On Sunday I reheated it in a crock pot.The women were happy it was made with ground ‘turkey’ instead of beef.
Leftovers were great for tacos!!
love love love this recipe!!!! I’ve probably made it more than 5 times now!!! it freezes perfectly and I love it so much!!! I always add a drained can of black beans and sometimes white corn too. (: thanks for this awesome recipe!!!!
Made this tonight and it was delicious! Added some Tumeric and black pepper and used black beans as didn’t have enough kidney beans and they were really nice.
With a little grated cheddar and sour cream on top and with rice, this was a great meal. Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE this recipe! As a broke and busy college student, I love meal prepping with this on the weekends! Thanks so much for the recipe 🙂
This is a delicious recipe. I just made it tonight- will definitely be making it again! I have tried other turkey chili recipes and I agree this is the best. Thank you!
This is now our go-to recipe for chili! My picky eater kids have told me this is the best chili they’ve ever had. We make it with turkey or venison. Thank you!!
Easy, healthy & delicious – huge hit with family! Only change … didn’t add corn.
Hi! I am going to make this in the crockpot but I have a question regarding your notes- it says to reduce the chicken broth from 1 1/4 cups to 1/2 cup but in a comment by a user you advised to use 1 cup of chicken broth (she was doubling is it was then 2 cups). Can you confirm for me please? This sounds sooo good and health btw and I am looking forward to making this on Saturday 🙂
Stick with 1/2 cup if you are not doubling the recipe and want a thick chili. 🙂
Does anyone know a good substitution for chicken broth in this recipe?
Water!
I used vegetable broth.
I just made your turkey chili recipe. I am so stuffed because I can’t stop eating. Good thing it’s healthy 🙂
Simply delicious! Fa exceeded my expectations.
I made this recipe for the first time for the Super Bowl last year and now is the only chili recipe I use. It really is delicious!
Hi! I made this for dinner tonight and it was hit with the family. I didn’t put all the chili powder in it because the family doesn’t like as much heat as I do. It was delish! Thanks so much. I will definitely make it again!
Nice recipe! Omitted the corn (just not a fan). Turned out a bit too watery for my taste so I added a tin of tomato paste which did the job. I also cut the chili powder down to 2 tbsp. – any thing more would’ve been too spicy for my family. This will be a go to chili recipe!
5 Star Recipe! Followed directions exactly and it turned out awesome! Didn’t have any of the traditional toppings, but added a small amount of French’s Fried Onions before eating (the kind from green bean casseroles!) and yum yum…
THis has become my go to chili recipe. I switch up meats sometimes and add more verges, but I love this as my chili base. Thank you!!
This is now my families favourite chilli recipe ever! Definitely doing this instead of my usual beef mince chilli.
Only used a half teaspoon of chilli powder as I’m in the UK and our chilli powder is very different to US stuff. Before I knew that I almost killed my husband with a 2 tbsp recipe – 4 would definitely finish him off! (I now have a cunning plan should I ever need his life insurance money…) 😉
This IS the best chili ever!!! I have made this a few times now and we LOVE it!! We use Mc Cormicks “Mexican” spicy chili and it’s PERFECT! Every time I make this everyone loves it! I love that it’s lean turkey lots of veggies and protein, so as long as I go easy on the cheesy/sour cream topping haha it’s pretty healthy and filling!
Just to try something different, do you think we can substitute the kidney beans with garbanzo beans? Thanks!
Sure! Let me know how you like it with garbanzo beans 🙂
For a girl who is just learning how to cook this recipe was easy and delicious!
I’m so glad! This one is a staple in my house 🙂
Wow, amazing recipe! I had my doubts at first, but this turned out to be a delicious, hearty chili that I whipped up very quickly. It wasn’t too spicy, and the taste was perfect. The smell alone made my mouth water, and the taste is incredible!
Thanks, Monique
I am making this recipe right now! It smells absolutely amazing and I just took a taste and was extremely impressed! Thank you for sharing!!
One of my favorite chilis! I hope you enjoyed!
How long do I cook it in a crockpot?
Cook it on high for 2-3 hours or low for 6-7!
For those experiencing “soupy” chili, I think it depends on the type of chili powder you use. I used a basic bottled chili ‘powder’ as opposed to the stuff that is in those little packets like McCormick’s Mild chili ‘packet.’ Mine ended up soupy, and required a little bit of corn starch to thicken. The packets have wheat flour in them, and actual chili powder does not so I believe this is where my mistake was made.
Hope this helps someone!
This is a fantastic recipe! I’m a meat eater but always looking for different ideas and I actually prefer this recipe over my usual beef/pork recipe! I like to cook my chilis a bit longer… really get those flavors together so I had to add an extra cup of broth. It was not soupy at all. Even after the first 45 min. I used 2.5 tbsp of regular chili powder. It was perfect, I can’t wait to make this again. Everyone loved it. Thank you!!
Amazing! So glad everyone enjoyed 🙂 It’s one of my fall staples!
I made a huge pot of the chili tonight, so I quadrupled the recipe! I was nervous but it came out delicious.
I added butternut squash, mushrooms and some kale just because we had it at home and it goes great.
Used 5 table spoons of chili powder and it has the perfect little kick to it. any more would have been too much
Amazing! Glad you were able to make a big batch 🙂
I could have sworn I saw somewhere on this recipe “to make this vegetarian just add an extra can of beans” but now reading it again I can’t find it. Is this what you would recommend Monique ? Thanks!
Yes! Just add some extra beans 🙂
When you say you use the McCormick chili powder, are you referring to the seasoning packet?
I have the McCormick brand in a little shaker / jar version, but they might have a seasoning packet as well!
When you say serving size is 1/6 How do you measure that ? Is it 1 cup and the whole recipe is 6 cups? How Much is your serving? Thanks !
Hi Sam! I take the entire recipe and divide it into 6 even portions. For this recipe each serving is around one heaping cup!
Can I add Kale to this recipe? I have no much extra kale in my refrigerator.
Sure!
The flavors didn’t really blend for me after about 40 minutes of simmering, but I put half of it through the food processor, and that really helped the taste and consistency for me! I’m going to have it over noodles 🙂 Thank you!
Interesting on the flavor – each time I make this I find the flavors super bold! Glad the food processor helped (and noodles sound great!)
How long can the chili stay in the fridge? Thank you!
About 3-4 days!
Literally just finished making this AMAZING chili! It came out great! Even my non chili likening husband is having some, so you know it’s that GOOD!
Amazing! So great to hear!
Looking forward to cook this later on today….
Any chance greek yogourt would be acceptable as topping, instead of sour cream?
You bet!
This was a big hit in our house!! We made it for dinner and now have leftovers for lunches!
Amazing! I always make a big batch for dinner to enjoy all week long 🙂 So glad you guys enjoyed!
Is there a way to print this without 49 pages of ads and comments? I’ve searched and searched……
PS.. I have made this and it is incredible!
Hi Lori! We’re currently working on a glitch – apologies for any inconvenience. So glad you love this chili!
Hi, how can I print this recipe? Is there a printer friendly button that i’m not seeing?? I can’t wait to make this chili!
Hi Mary! We’re currently working on some technical issues with this – apologies for any inconvenience!
I did a control find and the Print text is showing up white. I clicked it and printed with no problem!
Yes – it’s in there! We’re just having some trouble with it showing up.
This was absolutely amazing! My question am I able to freeze the leftover chilli?
So glad you enjoyed! And yes you definitely can 🙂
I made this recipe last week and it was amazing. Thank you for posting it.
So happy to hear that! Glad you enjoyed 🙂
i have this recipe on the stove cooking as we speak! super excited!! also found a sweet potato cornbread to pair it with 😛
Delicious! I hope you enjoyed!
This is my go to Chili recipe! Awesome Awesome. My whole family loves it. My young nieces are even making it on their own. My son uses it as a dip for tortilla chips or on nachos. Never lasts long in my house.
Thanks Monique!
Forgot to add… 5 stars!
Thanks so much, Missy! I’m so glad this one is a family favorite (and I’ll have to try it on nachos next…)
I am US Army Veteran. Thank you for teaching me a new skill. This chilli is amazing.
You are so welcome! I’m glad you’re enjoying this one (it’s a go-to dinner in my house!)
I love this Chili!!! It is my “go to” and has never let me down!! It is hearty and flavorful. I sometimes make a double batch to last over the weekend for leftovers!!
Forgot to “Rate” it!
So happy to hear that, April! I love making a big batch for leftovers (and sharing with friends!)
Wow this recipe was so flavourful. I didn’t have pepper so I added some mushrooms I had on hand and it worked out well. I felt the 4 tbsp of chili powder sounded a bit much so I added 1 tbsp instead and it was the perfect amount of heat for us. This recipe is now my go to for chili 🙂
Perfect! This one is perfect for adapting to your veggie + heat preferences. So glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing this. It’s delicious. I added another pound of turkey. With that, added another 1 and 1/4 cup of broth and added more cumin, salt and oregano (about 1/2 more of what the recipe call for). Delicious!!!
Perfect!! I’m glad you enjoyed this! One of my favorites 🙂
Made this on a cold winter night and it was amazing 😋 thanks so much for sharing. Healthy and the family loved it❤
Perfect! I’m so happy the family enjoyed it, too 🙂
This really was the best turkey chili I have ever made! And I have tried a lot of recipes. Thank you so much!
I’m so happy to hear that! Perfect to enjoy all winter long 🙂
This was absolutely delicious! I made it for my family and some friends tonight for dinner, which they are not chili fans, and they loved this! There are leftovers for tomorrow that I’m very excited about. Definitely going in the recipe book. Thank you for all of your recipes! I love them, I love feeding them to my family and friends. Just keep doing what you do, it is greatly appreciated!!
Amazing! So glad your friends enjoyed it 🙂 Thank you for following along – more recipes coming your way this year! Enjoy!
What size are the servings? 1cup?
I believe they’re about 1.5 cups!
My whole family LOVED this recipe = one happy momma!! I don’t normally have EVERYONE at the table ask for seconds 🙂 Thank you!
Amazing!! So happy to hear that 🙂
is there an easy print button? without going through 111 pages of ads and such?
Hi Stephanie! We’re currently working on a fix, but for now you can click on the white space underneath the “cook time” box and the print page will pop up.
Hi there! I was wondering if this would be able to be cooked in the instant pot? If so, what would you recommend for cooking time?
Hi Monique,
I’m going to make this recipe this weekend, however one of my guest is allergic to onions, what would you use/ substitute onions for? Thank you
Hi Wendy,
Apologies for the late reply! I this recipe you can leave the onions out 🙂
Thank you
Hi there, there’s so many comments that I didn’t check to see if someone already asked this. Buuuuut, if I wanted to make this without Chicken broth would there be a huge difference? Or should I just use it anyways? I was also going to use 3lbs of ground turkey and only double the rest of the ingredients but I wanted to know first if that would be too much meat compared to everything else? If it is I’ll just triple the recipe. I plan on making this tomorrow night. (We have a family of four and they are big eaters, plus we freeze leftovers). Thank you!
Hi Mikayla! I would recommend keeping the chicken broth in OR just using water! I think doubling the ingredients + extra ground turkey should be fine, but feel free to add more of the veggies, etc. if it’s looking like there aren’t enough in there!
I am a huge fan of your blog and this recipe in particular! Thanks so much. It is absolutely delicious and i love the ease of tossing it all in the crockpot 🙂 my hubby is a seattle firefighter and the guys at the firehouse love it. We kick it up with a whole jalapeño with seeds, add some chili pepper flakes and chili beans. It’s a winner. Thanks again!
I’m so happy to hear that! Love that all of the guys at the firehouse enjoy it, too 🙂 The extra spice sounds amazing!
Hi! I am making this tonight as we might get snow and soup sounds like the perfect dinner for snow!!
I love black beans, if I wanted to add them in, is there anything other substitutions i should make? like maybe excluding the kidney beans or can i keep those too?
thanks!
This is the perfect dinner for snow! You should be able to add black beans and keep the recipe as-is 🙂 if it’s getting too thick feel free to add a bit of water or extra broth! Or, feel free to sub black beans for the kidney beans.
How much would one serving be? I know you said 1/6th of the recipe but how do I measure that?
Each serving is about 1 1/2 cups!
How can I print this recipes?
Hi Judy! We’re currently working on a fix for our print button, but for now you can click the white space underneath the “cook time” box and a print window will pop up!
This is so incredible. I added handfuls of kale at the end before I let it simmer. Delicious!!!
Amazing! So glad you enjoyed!
I just made this recipe and I LOVE it. I’m always looking for healthy alternatives and this was super easy, along with filling my home with AMAZING aromas.. I will definitely share this recipe and add it to my book. It was a little spicy, but I LOVE spice so I even added an entire jalapeño on mine, but didn’t for my boyfriend, who also loved it! Thank you so much!
I’m so happy to hear this! I love spicy, too, but this one is easy to adjust for non-spice lovers 🙂
This has made it into our regular dinner rotation. I make it exactly as written except I sub one can of black beans for one of the kidney beans. Thanks so much for the great recipe!
So happy to hear that! Black beans sound great in here, too 🙂
This was so delicious!!! Made it tonight for dinner 😋 It was a last minute idea so I had to substitute the kidney beans with chickpeas (used 1 can) and I didn’t have chicken broth but it still came out amazing! In place of the chicken broth I used water and just upped the spices. I added frozen peaches and cream corn and sautéed celery with the onion and red peppers. I topped it with Cheddar cheese, avocado, a little cream cheese (didn’t have sour cream) and cilantro. My husband loves it too! Definitely making this again!
Perfect! This chili is perfect for adapting to your own tastes (and with ingredients you have on-hand). I’m glad you both enjoyed!
I tried this and i absolutely loved it!!
I’m so happy to hear that, Rachel!! Such a great go-to 🙂
This was delicious! Best chili recipe I’ve ever made! I only used 2 tablespoons chili powder. It was perfect. Added jalapeños, sour cream and cheese for toppings. Will definitely make again. I’m throwing out my other recipe. Even my husband approved who typically only like steak, burgers and pizza.
Amazing! I’m so glad. Those toppings sound delicious, too, and I’m happy it’s husband-approved!
Recommend to simmer with the top off for the first half of the time or it will be too liquidy
Yes that works!
Hey Monique!
Quick question: are we supposed to use 2 – 15 oz cans of kidney beans (30 oz total) or a total of 15 oz of kidney beans?
Thanks!
Hey Marcus! 2 15oz cans of kidney beans, so 30 oz total!
Omg this was sooo good. My whole family loved it!! Thanks for sharing!
Amazing! So happy to hear that 🙂
I followed this recipe exactly. Soooo good! I added some Trader Joe’s spicy taco sauce and my favorite hot sauce “gringo bandito” and it was perfection! And so filling! Thank you!!
Amazing!! Gotta try that hot sauce…
I realized my ground turkey is ground chicken. Has anyone tried with ground chicken instead?
Ground chicken should work just fine!
Hi ! my question is : 6 servings…ok but an Grammes ? How much for 1 portion ?
Thank you
Hi Annie! I don’t normally measure my recipes in grams. You’ll likely have to find an online calculator to do so!
This recipe was AWESOME! I made it with Turkey meat following the aforementioned instructions. I made it on a snowy day and the leftovers were better then the first day. My family loved it! Thank you for sharing❤
So happy to hear that! Perfect for a snowy day <3 Glad the whole family loved it too!
I have never used ground turkey before, but I also didnt want to use ground beef, so I chose your recipe. I’m glad I did! This is very good! I toned down the seasonings for my daughter, but if I was eating alone, I wouldn’t have. Thank you very much!
Perfect! I’m so glad you enjoyed!
This was the best turkey chili recipe I tried (and very WW Freestyle friendly). Thank you for sharing!
So happy to hear that Ellen!
I am not a fan of turkey by any means but I am on a healthy kick and sick of chicken so I figured ground turkey chili would be flavorful enough for me to withstand it being turkey and OH MY did this recipe NOT dissappoint!!! I love the spicyness too! Made this last week and making again this week. Boyfriend is a huge fan of it too now! Thank you for this recipe!!
It’s always interesting to read comments about degrees of heat. I made a double batch of this recipe as written but threw in a few extra veggies that I had on hand (carrots, celery, zucchini—the last added just before simmering) + dried chipotles, red chilis, and fresh jalapeño. For me it had a nice flavour and was not overly spicy. I grew up in Minn. but lived for a few years in Texas which may have slightly dulled my sensitivity to pepper! Thanks for a great recipe—I am now a follower!
Everyone’s heat sensitivities are so different! I grew up in MN as well, but learned to love spice from my Puerto Rican mom 🙂 So glad you enjoyed this one!
I made this recipe yesterday and it tasted great. Heated up a batch today and it was a home run! It’s just me and I’ll be enjoying a number of bowls over the next week. Thank you for what will be my go-to chili recipe!!
So happy to hear that, Michael! It’s my go-to, too 🙂
How much is one serving size? Is it a cup? I havent made it yet. I have to plan my meals ahead of time.
Thanks!
It’s about 1 1/2 cups – enjoy!
Love this recipe! It’s my go-to for excellent healthy chili! I also like to add a tbl of smoked paprika and a bottle of wheat beer as my liquid. DELISH!!
So happy to hear that! And those swaps sound delish 🙂
Just wanted to say I made this chilli today using leftover cooked turkey and it was absolutely gorgeous. Just added a teaspoon of paprika. Deffiently do it again! Thanks for the recipe x
Amazing!! So happy to hear that 🙂
