Recently I started developing a morning routine and have been loving it. Obviously it involves these greek yogurt waffles…
Here’s how it goes: Wake up at 5:30. Hit the snooze button for 5 minutes so I can cuddle with Tony. Feed Milly. Brush my teeth. Get dressed. Grab a cup of coffee to go. Kiss Tony on the cheek and walk out the door so I can just make it for my 6am workout class. I enjoy getting my workouts done in the morning because not only does it give me TONS of energy, but then I can focus on work the rest of the day.
Since I ususally don’t eat pre-morning workout, my stomach is rumbling once I return home. During my shower, it’s not uncommon for me to debate my breakfast options for a good 10 minutes. Do I want avocado toast with ALL the toppings?! What about pancakes? Maybe a green smoothie with peanut butter? Perfectly fried eggs? Crispy, fresh waffles? UGH. So hungry I can’t think.

Since my workouts have been pretty intense thanks to a new fitness studio, I’ve been opting for hearty breakfasts with both healthy carbs & protein. Obviously these flourless banana oatmeal waffles are the answer!
Wait a sec, aren’t waffles always the answer? Yes.
This particular recipe was inspired by my original cottage cheese banana pancakes, which just so happen to taste like banana bread and is an AK reader favorite. I switched up the ingredients just a smidgen so that I could use the greek yogurt and Almond Breeze Almondmilk in my fridge. By the way, did you know that Almond Breeze makes shelf stable almondmilk? I go through almond milk pretty quickly, so it’s nice to have a few hiding in the pantry.

The turned out to be the easiest waffles ever! The batter is made in the blender for easy clean up so if you have kids, this is a great recipe for them to help with.
The best part about these protein-packed waffles isn’t just the strawberry banana flavor, it’s that they also include probiotics from greek yogurt, fiber from oats, and nutrition and vitamins from eggs. Truly the perfect post-workout breaky.
Lastly, I want to note that the waffles are freezer-friendly! I’ve included notes in the recipe below on how to properly freeze waffles so that you can simply pop them in the toaster for a grab and go breakfast. Just don’t forget that peanut butter spread on top. Enjoy! xo.

I have made this recipe for many time. I make a big batch and freeze it. Its very delicious and has wholesome goodness in here. Great as post workout (with protein shake) or afternoon snack with high protein yoghurt. Thank you
So happy to hear that!
I’ve tried this recipe at least 5 times and every time I end up having to add flour or completely sub the oat flour for regular flour. Otherwise it sticks to the waffle maker terribly. Wish I could get the oat flour to work but it just doesn’t bind as well. Will stick to the buttermilk waffles from now which are always a winner
Sorry to hear that! I’m not sure why the oat flour would cause these to stick. I’ll have to retest these soon and let you know if I make adjustments as it’s been almost 10 years!
The freeze instructions state: To freeze waffles: cook them on wire racks when they are done cooking.
Should it be: Put them on wire racks?
Yes, thank you for the catch! I’ve updated the notes.
I LOVE recipes from this site, but this one did not turn out for me. I had to add way more liquid (closer to a cup or more) and then they somehow burnt in the waffle maker but weren’t fully cooked on the inside? Bummer, but that’s ok. I just won’t make this one again.
So sorry to hear that! I’ll have to give this one a re-test (it’s very old, so I’ll double check the measurements!)
I wondered how this would go down in my waffle maker with no oil, even brushing the plates with oil, and sadly I was right to worry. Stuck, tore in half, and made an awful mess. 🙁 I think perhaps I’ll stick to your pancake recipe! It wasn’t a total loss tho, we scraped all the bits in bowls and ate with all the trimmings. 😆 Tasty mess!
Oh no! So sorry this didn’t turn out as you had hoped. Glad you enjoyed the flavor though!
Made these today, substituted unsweetened applesauce for the banana, super yummy!
Perfect! So glad these turned out great for you 🙂
I made the waffles this morning. In fact, I am eating one while I write this. They are delicious. I will definitely be making more so I can add them to the freezer and pop out 1 for breakfast when I don’t have time to cook something.
Taste was okay. I had to use more than twice the amount of milk to get my blender to blend these and the result was very dense.
Sorry you didn’t love these! Thanks for the feedback 🙂
Family favorite. The kiddos ask for these every morning!
Yay!! So happy you all love it!
This is our go to waffles recipe. My 2 years old daughter love it and me too ☺ Thanks for another great recipe!
Aw so glad to hear that! You’re welcome, and thank YOU for the review 🙂
Love love love!! These waffles and your oatmeal yogurt pancakes are on constant rotation in my house!
Woohoooo! Glad to hear you love them both!
Excellent Gluten Free Waffles!
I added one scoop of Collagen, and a 1/2 scoop of my protein powder as well as using egg replacer instead of the eggs as I am allergic.
I made it in my nutribullet which was filled to the top and it did a little pop explosion when I opened it…. so open carefully if using a small blender. I only lost a tiny bit of the batter on my shirt. Ha ha. Will definitely make again
These come together so quickly and are wonderful to freeze and have on hand for quick breakfasts or snacks. I pop in the toaster + add PB – Monique would be proud 😉
Super easy, great texture. My 9 month old loved these, and I loved that there is no added sugar- the bananas made it perfectly sweet.
I always prepared this waffles for my 2 years old daughter and she really like them. I love them too, especially knowing that they are made with super healthy ingredients 🧡
These are delicious! I tend to add a little more almond milk, but overall, it’s a fantastic recipe. My whole family loves them
Perfect! Glad these are a hit!
hi!
hi!!! JUST dropped in your blog searching for a healthy recipe 🙂 I just wondered if instead of the fresh strawberries I could use FROZEN blueberries directly?? do you think it will cook good enough in the batter?
and also, regarding the yougurt, could it be SKYR one with no fat?
thank you very much!!
Hi! Yes to both! Enjoy 🙂
These are so easy to make. They are pretty thick waffles! The flavor is perfect.
Easy and delish! Glad you like them!
Hi! I’m 77 years and like to eat healthy. Love this recipe, loaded with healthy ingredients. Thanks for posting it.
Pat
Hi Pat! Love this one too – such a great breakfast. I’m so glad you love this!
We don’t eat dairy. What could I replace the Greek yogurt with?
Hi Whitney! You could try using a dairy-free yogurt here 🙂
Here I am again looking for the recipe. I don’t know why I haven’t give a five star review yet. Honestly, I forgot. I get overwhelmed with my baby. So, I have made this recipe more than 10 times and keep looking for it in google instead of memorizing it. Love it. Its perfect. You have to make waffles as fast as you can because the batter gets thick. I also love quinoa flour waffles. Thanks Monique!!!
Amazing! I’m glad you love this one Eunice 🙂
