I recently caught up with one of my best friends from college; we hadn’t seen each other in over a year! How does time pass that quickly? I’m not sure, but life does happen and as I’m hurling my way through my twenties, it has increasingly become more difficult to maintain the relationships I once had.
I feel like this should be an article on Thought Catalog.
Anyway, Callie (pictured in the middle) and I lived together throughout college, which reminded me of our absurd obsession with oatmeal. WE LOVED IT. I can’t tell you how many times we ate it for both breakfast AND dinner; it was just SO filling, good-for-you, and comforting! Big bowls of cinnamon oatmeal bliss for dinner topped with anything we could find. I miss those days.
In fact, I MISS ALL OF MY FAVORITE COLLEGE GIRLS! Life slow down for just a minute please. At least so I can find the time to make some oatmeal.
These days I crave oatmeal AND pancakes. This is a major dilemma, especially when I’m hypoglycemic hungry. The solution? Put oatmeal IN my pancakes, duh.
I make these hearty oatmeal cottage cheese pancakes at least once a week! They’re actually one of my favorites (especially after a tough cardio workout) because they include healthy carbs, fiber, and are packed with over 20g of protein! Note: Remember to use gluten-free oats! You can purchase them in bulk here.
The ingredients are simple and the batter is made in a blender! Ohh la la. All you need is gluten-free oats, baking powder, cinnamon, vanilla, cottage cheese, egg whites, and a splash of almond milk. Sometimes I add a banana to sweeten them up, but you could also use a packet of all-natural sweeter such as stevia.
Sometimes I’ll add blueberries or if I need a sweet fix, chocolate chips. To me, there’s nothing better than pancakes for dinner.
And at under 300 calories, these pancakes are a dream come true. They’re great for freezing too and then popping in the microwave in the morning! When I’m watching my weight, or what I’m eating, this is my go-to recipe.
I love topping mine with almond or peanut butter to get a little healthy fat in. Pure maple syrup or honey is also delicious! I hope you’ll enjoy this easy recipe.

Healthy, delicious oatmeal cottage cheese pancakes that taste just like banana bread. This easy recipe is full of healthy carbs and protein, making it the perfect post-workout meal.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup gluten-free old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 medium banana
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 large egg whites (or 1 egg)
- 1/4 cup fat free (or low-fat) cottage cheese
- 1-2 tablespoons unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- Optional add-ins:
- Fresh berries, chocolate chips, peanut butter
Instructions
-
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until completely smooth, about 30 seconds.
-
Lightly coat a large nonstick skillet or griddle with butter or cooking spray and heat over medium low heat. Drop batter by 1/4 cup onto skillet. Add desired toppings such as chocolate chips or blueberries. Cook until bubbles appear on top. Flip cakes and cook until golden brown on underside.
-
Wipe skillet clean and repeat with more cooking spray and remaining batter. Makes 3-4 pancakes.
Recipe Notes
I usually buy my gluten-free oats at Trader Joe's or at Whole Foods.
If the pancakes are too thin, add in a tablespoon of more oats. If they are too thick, add in a teaspoon or two of milk.
Feel free to double recipe if making for more than one person.

Looks absolutely amazing. I definitely need to make these as after workout snacks/meals 🙂
Just made pancakes over the weekend and these look way better!! lol I need to give these a try!
I can’t wait to try these for lunch. Thanks!
You know I love pancakes! After my (conscious) cleanse is over, I’m making these cakes!
These look delicious!
Cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes are perfect, so yummy, soft and filling! My new favourite way to enjoy them is with pb and banana; mix peanut butter with a little hot water and voila, peanut butter sauce! I haven’t used a recipe in a while because its so easy to just eye-ball it, they always turn out perfect! I actually refer these to fluffy white pancakes!
I love that these have 20g of protein without any protein powder! I’ll totally be making these for breakfast this week. And under 300 cals? Wahoo!!
I recently tried adding cottage cheese to my pancakes, and loved it too! 🙂 However, I didn’t blend everything in a blender and used whole-wheat pastry flour. If you’re ever craving a thick-but-fluffy pancake with incredible texture, check out my recipe at http://www.hungrygatorgal.com/2013/02/weekend-breakfast-cottage-cheese.html
I’m in full agreement! Oatmeal at any meal!
Made them this am, they turned out great! Thanks!
Oh goodness! These pancakes look amazing. I love that they’re high in protein.
You girls look cute!
You and your friends are all gorgeous! I love oatmeal pancakes and these look awesome, love your photos too! This is a stupid question but do you know the difference between the almond milk in the refrigerated section and the almond milk on the shelf? Does the one just have a longer shelf life and not need to be refrigerated until opened? Random question I’ve just been wondering and thought maybe you’d know :).
From what I know, almond milk on the shelf has a longer shelf life, and does not need to be refrigerated until open! Def not a stupid question. Hope this helps. xo
These are THE BEST!!! I was looking for a healthy and guilt free pancake recipe. Just made these (I topped them with low fat vanilla yogurt and some blueberries) and they are simply delicious and so good for you.Really is a great post-workout meal. Thanx!!!!
Can you substitute anything for the cottage cheese? I would love to make these but don't have any cheese on hand :/
Do you have any substitutes for cottage cheese?? I want to make these ASAP but don’t have any cottage cheese on hand 🙁
Maybe tryou Greek yogurt!
Ricotta cheese is substituted for cottage cheese a lot with good results.
I’m lactose intolerant, so does anyone know if the cottage cheese is fine to eat after it is cooked? Thanks!
I am as well but I do ok with soft cheeses every now and then. Greek yogurt is pretty good with protein if you’re unsure. My body is fine with that, I think because it’s already broken down a bit.
This is a very late reply but the reason yoghurt may be ok for you is that the lactic acid bacteria that are used to make yoghurt consume the lactose as a food source and convert it to lactic acid. Hence why yoghurt has a low pH and is acidic. But some lactose does remain.
Just made these pancakes and they were fabulous! I had an over-ripe banana, so they tasted kind of like banana bread.
I LOVE these! In an effort to lose weight and to live a healthier lifestyle, I have given up a lot of the foods I love. My friend told me about cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes a few years ago, but I never tried them. I really wanted pancakes this morning, so I found your recipe and fortunately I had everything on hand. Even my three-year-old daughter ate them! I didn't have any syrup, so I topped them with a tablespoon of Nature's Hollow berry preserves and they were great, but you could honestly eat these without ANYTHING on them and they would still taste good. I'm obviously very impressed, and can't thank you enough for the recipe!
these were delicious.. took just a few seconds to whip up in the magic bullet. and it’s a generous portion! thanks 🙂
Thank you for this recipe it has replaced all gluten free flour pancakes that are usually heavy and bland. I always look forward to these.
This looks really good, I will be trying it…
I made these last night. And I seriously thought I had died and gone to heaven. Best pancakes ever!
If you are lactose intolerant buy lactaid cottage cheese.
These are beautiful, I also add 4 tsp of sugar free drinking chocolate to make a chocolate pancake version, Thanks for sharing
I tried these for the healthy ingredients but didn’t like how they cooked. Almost burnt on the outside but mushy raw on the inside.
Sorry to hear that Janet, sounds like you had too many wet ingredients! I would reduce the amount of cottage cheese and lower the heat on the stove. 🙂 They are my favorite pancakes, so I would definitely try them again!
You may want to check out Kim Boyce' recipe… Cook the oats first & use one cup… And oat flour… I like the texture of cooked oats – either rolled or steel cut!
It's what's for breakfast today!
I just made this and what a great recipe! Was easy, quick, and really good. Topped mine with Blueberries
Some small world action: Googled cottage cheese pancakes, yours was the second hit, clicked it, scrolled down, and I had classes with 3/5 of those girls at UST. Haha. Anyway, pancakes were awesome, thanks!
those were seriously the best protein pancakes I've ever had!
I made these yesterday morning and they turned exactly like the ones pictured (which is very uncommon when I use other peoples recipes) They tasted AMAZING! I have made different versions of cottage cheese pancakes and they all turned out to be rubbery, until I made these;) The best thing about this recipe is that it is very forgiving:) I made a little over a double batch and kinda winged it with all the ingredients EXCEPT for the baking powder. I added Fage yogurt instead of using almond milk and thinned it out with a little bit more water. They were sooo good, I am adding them to our favorites menu! Thanks for the recipe:)
So glad you enjoyed them!
I made these this morning for my grandsons & they loved them! I am on a dairy & gluten free diet, so I was also able to enjoy them.
These are amazing, and so healthy too! I was planning to freeze them, but after trying one, they all disappeared 🙂
I tried out this recipe a while ago and have been making them for myself and my 2-year-old ever since. We love them so much that I just did a blog post on them, of course with link back to you. Thanks so much for the great recipe Monique!
Oops, I gave you the link to the german part of my blog…you may have trouble reading that. 🙂 This one is the english version…
This is such a great recipe! I used my NutriBullet to blend. I doubled the recipe and added a splash of vanilla extract. Also chopped up some walnuts and pecans and stirred into the batter after blending. Made around 18 silver dollar sized pancakes, which was more than enough for me and my parents. YUM! Kind of tastes like banana bread pancakes… very filling! Instead of syrup, I spread some peanut butter on top and ate along with sliced apples.
First I wanna say that the taste was amazing. I always make a great regular pancakes but I love the taste of cottage and banana and cinnamon in this pancake. thank you 🙂 . But I don’t know how this recipe calorie is 290? I calculate with myfittnesspal app and it was 110 cal each. so 4 of them should be 440!! can you please break the calories down. The only changes I made was using instant oats and 1TBS milk instead of almond milk.
Hi Sheler!
1/2 cup oats – 150 calories
1/2 medium banana – 50 calories
2 egg whites – 40 calories
1/4 cup fat free cottage cheese – 40 calories
1-2 tablespoons almond milk – 5 calories
Obviously it varies based on which brands you use, but I calculated on caloriecounter.com 🙂 Hope this helps! I’m not a dietitian or nutritionist, so please take that into account. Thanks!
where is Kim Boyce' recipe?
Can the batter be stored in fridge? If so how long?
No it’s best to make these right away.
I have had success making a double batch and keeping one serving in the fridge to eat the next day at work. It isn’t quite as good but definitely works.
So this was my 6th protein pancake trial. My daughter Livi (age 5) and I have been unable to get through more than the first bite of all other protein pancakes that we have tried. When I said I found a new pancake recipe, she had a look of 'OH NO', and I think I saw an eye twitch. Not only did we each eat our share of the pancakes, Livi said "can I have more, please." 5 stars!!! Thank you for sharing. We will be trying it out on my husband and 15 year old son.

Did you do the fruit with it too?
Fallon Zschiegner-Bleich I put a banana in it but I wanted to try it with just syrup (light) on top. It was great even without the added fruit
I just tried to make them but both pancakes failed miserably 🙁
Made these this morning for our little family. Very easy and nutritious. 2 yr old and 4yr old could not eat them fast enough. Husband really enjoyed them too. Perfect breakfast for pregnant/breastfeeding mum oats are great for a healthy milk supply 🙂 Perfect as they are. Thanks for sharing.
Made these this morning … Very delicious and nutritious
Very happy with this recipe! I was craving pancakes Sat morning after my workout. These were tasty and satisfying. The best part: I don't feel like taking a nap now!
I made this today. It was absolutely delicious! So soft and fluffy. I generally don’t like to eat cottage cheese so this is a great way to incorporate it into my diet. Will definitely become my go-to recipe. Thank you!
I had to triple the recipe, and it was just for hubby and I, ha-ha. I added a little nutritional yeast and cut back on the banana…will be making these again for sure.
How much vanilla extract do you add?
These were amazing! I substituted the cottage cheese with flaxseed meal because I don't eat dairy and they were still awesome! Thanks!
made today in my nutribullet, used pumpkin instead of banana, and french vanilla yogurt with a little water instead of milk. Delish!!! kids could not get enough, had to make a second double batch just to get some for myself. 🙂
These are now my go to pancakes. I love reading all the other ideas to vary the recipe.
I made these this morning, wasn't sure what to expect -but these were delicious!! I used one whole egg, and I used some organic coconut oil, instead of cooking spray. I topped them with organic blueberries, and a drizzle of organic maple syrup. I will definitely make them again! THANK YOU! : ))
Hey just FYI. Truvia is not all natural. A recent study shoes it's a pesticide. Killing fruit flies with in a week (normal life span is 40-57 days). It is mostly a sugar alcohol with minimal stevia extract.
These are so good!! I had them for dinner (or brinner!) tonight with blueberries and a tablespoon of almond butter blended in the batter. I just love how quick and easy they are. Thanks for another great recipe 🙂
I love cottage cheese pancakes. I make them for my hubby all the time before he heads out to work. My recipe is easy: one packet of oatmeal( organic is nice but usually I use the Quaker packets from Costco), 2 TBBS ground flax (flax meal), about 1/3 cup lowfat cottage cheese, and 1 whole egg, two whites. I just mix that all up in a bowl and use a 1/3 measuring cup to pour the batter into the pan. They’re really delicious topped with coconut oil and some raw honey or agave. If you wanted a smoother texture you could blend it up or mix with an immersion blender but I don’t mess with any of that. They taste great and they’re full of healthy ingredients, plus they’re easy!
32 grams of carbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not 3.2
Yes, oatmeal and banana give this recipe healthy carbs.
These are amazing!! So easy, delicious and filling! I was wondering if these pancakes are also freezer friendly as are your cinnamon applesauce oatmeal pancakes?! I am a college student and these would be awesome to be able to just heat up in the microwave! 🙂
Yes, they are both freezer friendly! 🙂
I was looking for recipes to use up cottage cheese and these are an absolutely delicious way to do so – I topped them with extra cottage cheese and a bit of Greek yoghurt, and tonnes of fresh strawberries.
I did find they burned quickly though – I’ll have to watch them more carefully next time!
Do you think I can make waffles with this recipe? Thanks!
You can try! I haven’t done so but let me know if they turn out!
Just tried them this morning. I usually make pancakes with the recipe so I made the batter a little bit more watery than I normally do for the waffles and they turned out perfectly! Can’t wait to serve it for Easter sun brunch tomorrow. Thanks!
No effing waaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Just bought some rolled oats and fat free cottage cheese from TJ’s !! Guess what imma make next?!
I made these this morning for my brother and I. They were great! And probably easier to prepare than usual pancakes anyway. I will definitely be trying these again 🙂
These pancakes taste so strange when i make them. Second time making them, still strange. I tried to decrease the baking powder amount but it still didn’t help. Any advice? 🙁
I think a little salt is what would bring out the flavor
Made these this morning and they were delish, even my one year old son ate it. The only thing I noticed missing was the vanilla lol. I came back to see if I missed it and I noticed you have it in the picture but not listed how much is needed in the ingredients. Or maybe I’m just not seeing it? Lol
Thank you for such a lovely recipe!
OMG thanks for letting me know, Sam!
I just made this for breakfast and they taste amazing, i´m diabetic and this is a perfect breakfast instead of Ihop pancakes
I just made these. I added chocolate chips and they were amazing! As you said, tastes like banana bread 🙂
I would love to make these but I can not eat bananas. Is there anything I can replace the banana with?
Thank you 🙂
You don’t need to add the banana – I make the recipe without it and it still tastes great.
I used frozen peaches this morning instead of bananas and they were delicious.
Love that!
These are really good. I’ve made them twice now, both times doubling the recipe so I can just use a whole banana but also adding in tbsp of cocoa…so good! Im always looking for ways to get in protein and these are perfect. Thanks.
Hello! Is it 290 calories for one pancake (using 1/4 cup batter) or is the serving size 2 pancakes? Thanks!
Hi Sam, it says in the nutrition information that it is for the entire recipe. Enjoy!
I love this recipe but I think the macros are incorrect.. 😛
They are correct. Obviously it varies by brand of cottage cheese and also if you use an egg or egg white(s) however the macros are indeed correct based on two egg whites and low fat cottage cheese. I’ve actually already mentioned this before in the comments above!
I have celiac disease and high cholesterol, so I’m always on the lookout for healthy, delicious and EASY recipes. These pancakes certainly look like they would fit the bill. I must try these! BTW, I was on your website looking up your recipe for chickpea blondies (http://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/2013/04/flourless-chocolate-chip-chickpea-blondies-with-sea-salt-vegan-gluten-free-healthy/) and stumbled across this recipe. I see it’s mostly women commenting on your website, but why should women get all the healthy, delicious food? Thanks for the inspiration and awesome recipes!
These are amazing ! I feel great being able to eat more than one pancake ?It was a nice filling serving , I cooked mine in a bit of coconut butter .and added a small banana So good ,, Thanks
These were a total flop. Tasted good but the pancakes didn’t flip at all. Turned it into a baked oatmeal of sorts.
That’s odd. I just made these last week and they were perfect. If you find the batter to be too thin, don’t add the almond milk. My guess is that your banana was extra large OR you had a watery cottage cheese.
I’m frustrated that I can’t eat oats 🙁 Has anyone tried these with a gluten free substitute please?
I am so amazed at how these turned out and they were so easy. My sister is allergic to bananas, is there a decent substitute?
I’ve been making these regularly for about a year. They’re great! And compared to regular pancakes, you feel way better after eating them…
I was really looking forward to making these pancakes. I finally got around to it this morning but they didn’t cook through no matter what I tried. I had to bin them which was a disgusting waste. I would love to try and make them again. How do you get them to cook through properly?
This recipe has been my go to for years. Taste good and make you feel good!
These were delicious, I also added mixed berries, crushed walnuts and a TB of applesauce.
My family and I love these pancakes. They’re super easy, delicious and healthy. I love how much protein they have. Thanks for the great recipe!
Delicious!!! Thanks so much for a delicious and healthy pancake recipe!!!
I have tried a lot of “healthy” or “protein” pancakes and these are by far the BEST. Usually I find that most are dense due to almond or coconut flour or lack flavor or turn hard. What surprised me the most about these pancakes was their lightness! They are fluffy and when adding fruit, that sweetens them up perfectly. I don’t even add the banana to the recipe and it turns out perfect. I top with banana instead. Thank you for this recipe. My whole fam loves them – kiddos and hubby!
So happy to have finally found a delicious, soft, and easy healthy (and protein-rich) pancake recipe! This is now my go-to! Thank you!!
I dont tolerate dairy. Any suggestions on what I could replace the cottage cheese with?
There aren’t really any substitutions, I’m sorry!
I have been making these pancakes frequently for two years now. You would think I know the recipe by memory, but I have a terrible memory. Even after finding this recipe, I have on numerous occasions Google for other variations of this recipe, but this is the winner. I asked my husband last night, “You want some pancakes tomorrow?” “Yes.” He always says yes; he loves these pancakes. I triple you recipe just because there’s four in the family. My husband, who is very health conscious; me, who has adapted to his ways and learned to love it for myself and my family; my three year old daughter, who was raised on these and loves them despite being a very picky eater; and my one year old daughter, who will eat anything and this is why being a healthy-eating family is important for kids with her size appetite.
So thank you, fit lady from the internet whose recipe I have Googled for so long now. Your recipe is in our kitchen so often, even now. And I knew I had to stop to give thanks because it was in my heart to do so. Thank you!
This is so wonderful to hear and I’m happy that you and your family love them.
I too have been using your recipe for over a year now. It has really helped me in my weight loss (70+ lbs and counting). Everyone in my family loves them. Thanks for such a good recipe.
These are perfect!! They are my favourite pancakes because they don’t taste healthy! Thank you so much!:)
These were great! I got 6 pancakes out of the recipe and topped with a strawberry compote and fried bananas! Delicious, healthy, and filling!
These are amazing!! I love making the batter into waffles. So good! Great recipe! 👍🏻
not 2 stars — 5 stars all the way!!!!
Was making 3 ingred pancakes: cottage chs, oats, and egg. Then would add optional cinnamon, possibly vanilla. These are worth the extra effort at no cost to health. Saved this one. Using out of date dry ingreds and still wonderful.
I have been making these for over 6 months. I originally saw a similar recipe being made on a food show and then I searched for a recipe that added more. I started making them when I discovered an intolerance to dairy and quite a few other things and in doing so, eliminated wheat as well. I use Lactaid cottage cheese, Fairlife (LF) milk and a really ripe banana (I freeze bananas as they ripen and it only takes a few minutes while making the coffee for them to thaw enough to blend.). My husband enjoys them and finds they are much more filling than standard pancakes. Thank you so much for this recipe.
I have made these a few times now and I love them. I have made them with whatever fruit I’ve had on hand: peaches, strawberries, etc. I haven’t actually made them with banana. I use quick oats and I add about a half scoop of vanilla protein powder. They turn out perfect every time! I use a 1/4 cup measure for each pancake and am usually able to get between 5 and 7 pancakes, depending on how much liquid I have in the batter. Thank you for this quick and easy recipe!
Peaches in these sound amazing! Glad you’re loving these 🙂
This is the second time I’ve made these. This time I don’t have any cottage cheese so I used
yogurt instead. They were just as good! Thanks for the recipe.
Perfect! I’m glad you enjoy them 🙂
These were great! In the past I’ve made the two-ingredient pancakes, which are only made with one egg and one banana, and, although they taste okay, it’s like eating mush. These have some density to them and cook just like regular pancake (low to medium heat and watch the edges)! I ate mine with a thin spread of peanut butter and some syrup. Will definitely make again. YUM!
Totally agree on the 2-ingredient ones – these ones are the real deal! Glad you enjoyed 🙂
I just made these for my client and got back a HUGE thumbs up! These taste so much better than the protien powder pancakes too.
I rated these 5 stars but my rating disappeared when I hit submit.
http://Www.Blackradish.us
I’m so glad you enjoyed these!
The batter was really thick but after adding some milk, it came out perfectly!! I loved it! Thank you 🙂
So glad you enjoyed!
Can this recipe be used in a waffle iron to make waffles?
Yes!
Excellent pancakes. I have been doing one similar for a long time, but without the banana and milk added. I think this recipe makes it even better. I blended it for a short time and it still has some oat consistency. Need to have pan not too hot so they can cook a bit more slowly. I find that works the best for me. Love these. Thank you.
Perfect! And yes – cooking them slow is great 🙂 Glad you love these!
These were great! I subbed banana with pumpkin and they came out great!!!! Thank you! Will be making again!
Delicious!!
Just made these and they turned out great!
Thank you!
Happy to hear that! Love this stack for breakfast (and dinner!)
I’ve tried so many protein pancake recipes and these were, by far, my fave! Thank you!
So happy to hear that!!
I just made these last night and rejoiced! Finally a gluten-free pancake that is yummy and satisfying and doesn’t make me miss the days when I could eat a “real” one! 🙂 These were SO good. And easy. And my kids ate ’em all up. So THANK YOU!
YES these are just like the real deal! Glad the kiddos love them too 🙂
Just made these pancakes and they were fabulous! I had an over-ripe banana, so they tasted kind of like banana bread
Love it!!
I misread your recipe – I thought it said 2 eggs instead of 2 egg whites. Despite adding a whole extra egg, these came out great! I can’t wait to make it properly (with just 1 egg) and find out if they taste better.
I’m glad they still worked out for you! Perfect breakfast 🙂
Tried those just now. Tastes good, easy to make. But it didn’t fit to 290calories. I used whole egg and even less rolled oats( half cup got to be 70g and that is already 250cal.) So I added only 50g of oats. Got 4 pancakes with 400calories
Double checked this one and it looks correct to me! 1/2 cup of rolled oats should be about 150cal, and the 2 egg whites will have fewer calories as well. Glad you enjoyed them!
I’ve been using this recipe for years. I should have comment sooner lol. I sometimes modify it. If you’re wondering if you should try it, do it!
So happy to hear that Betsy!
Finally a great gluten free clean cottage cheese oatmeal pancake recipe that uses up ripe bananas and is PERFECT! I ate with peanut butter and maple syrup. 1/2 c batter (1 pancake 😊) is 113 calories and 7 grams protein with whole egg & 2% cottage cheese. I made in a nutra ninja. My breakfast of 1 pancake, 1 T pb, 1 T maple syrup, and 1 c almond milk was 291 calories and 12 grams protein. I am satisfied & thrilled!
Perfect! Glad you found this recipe 🙂 One of my go-to breakfasts.
Just stumbled on this magical recipe! Could I sub GF oat flour for the oats? How much would I use?
I would probably use about 1/3 cup oat flour and see how the consistency looks. If it’s like a thicker pancake batter than you should be good to go! 🙂
great for post workout and freezer friendly!
Okay, I did tweak a little (used just 2TB of rolled oats, a whole egg, just 1/2 tsp baking powder and no almond milk) to keep the calories a bit lower so that I could slather them with peanut butter 🙂 These cooked up so well and were delicious and SUPER filling! Seems like a great recipe to double or triple and make ahead for a quick weekday breakfast.
Glad those swaps worked out! Love the peanut butter on top.
This recipe was freaking delish. Might be my favorite healthy pancake recipe. I like the added protein coming from the cottage cheese. Will definitely make again.
Amazing! So happy to hear that!
These were the most delicious pancakes! Even my son who is 6 and a pancake lover wants to switch to these! Thank you for making something for this gluten-free mom!
Amazing! So happy to hear that 🙂
This was the first AK recipe I made years ago! So easy to make with pantry staples, I love eating a filling yummy warm breakfast that you throw in the blender. I really loved feeding these to my kids when they were little, compared to conventional pancakes.
Sounds yummy can’t wait to try them !!!
Thx for sharing
Hope you love them!
Hi! after looking at the ingredients in your GF Cottage cheese banana pancakes, there is just no way those are 300 calories each. I think that is the calorie amount in the whole recipe! Can you please check this for me? I am on Weight Watchers but have to go GF. Thsese look amazing, but I acn’t fit them into my eating plan if they are 300 calories each.
Hi! The nutrition is for the entire recipe (the whole thing makes just 1 serving) so you’re right 🙂 Apologies for any confusion!
These were easy to make, quick to cook, and delicious to eat!
So glad you enjoyed!
Sounds yummy! Could you make waffles with this recipe?
I haven’t tried it but let me know if you do!
I just discovered this recipe and had to comment. We have made these 5 days in a row because we love them so much. I’ve tried dozens of high protein/banana pancakes and this recipe is BY FAR the best we have tried. These are fluffy when most others are dense and wet. I have even subbed a few items just because we ran out of key ingredients by making them so often. I subbed ricotta cheese for cottage, no problem. I subbed applesauce for banana and still turned out great. Thank you for sharing! We love it.
I’m so thrilled that you’re a fan, Carol! Glad that they stayed fluffy and that those subs worked out 🙂
If I could give this recipe more than 5 Stars, I would. Healthy, easy to make and delishhhh… I will be having it for dinner too. Thank you for sharing your creativity in the kitchen. I am a new fan.
Not a bad pancake, but I think there is too much Baking powder, that’s almost all I could taste in these. Mine still came out flat, but luckily these weren’t dry at all! I’ll play around with this recipe a bit. Thanks
Thanks for the feeback! I also have a newer Fluffy Yogurt Protein Pancake recipe that you might like 🙂
I’ve been coming back to this recipe ever since I first discovered it! Love the variety of ingredients that go in 👍 the only thing is that the pancakes tend to turn out flat but I’m guessing that’s due to cottage cheese and blending?
Happy you love them! Hmm are they a lot flatter than the pancakes pictured in the photos above?
Prior to trying this recipe, I tried a similar recipe that did not include banana. I think the banana was a huge improvement to add flavor and a touch of sweetness. I added vanilla and almond extract to the recipe which seemed to enhance the flavors. I forgot to add almond milk, but I like a thicker pancake that is not thin. I am looking forward to making these pancakes again!
I’m so happy you enjoyed these, Casandra — thank you!
Made these today for my 8 month old and I and they turned out so yummy! I doubled the recipe and ended up adding a bit more oats and some ground flax seeds just because the consistency was a little thin. Drizzled my berry chia jam through the pancakes when they were in the pan and she (and me) devoured them! Thank you!! Question: do you think you could use this recipe and turn them into muffins?? 🤔🤔
SO glad you loved them! Good to know about the consistency — good call on the oats and flax! I haven’t tried them as muffins so not totally sure, but I have another oatmeal banana muffin that you might like 🙂
I have been making this recipe from your website for a few years now and it is my favorite!
Aw thanks so much, Jen! Happy it’s a go-to for you 🙂
Easy, awesome and 5 year old/hubby approved! I tripled the recipe and used 1 large banana and 4tbsp milk. Love that this is GF so I enjoyed them too. Thank you so much!
So glad you all loved these and that they came out amazing!!
Such a delicious recipe. One of my favorites! Thank you for sharing.
is one serving 3-4 pancakes? Or is 1 serving only one pancake?
Hi! Sorry for the confusion — we just updated the nutrition info! One serving is the whole batch / 3-4 pancakes 🙂
Hi Monique! I’m going to make these now but thought I can put in a mini waffle maker?!! Would the batter be ok for that?thx!!
Sure!
I’m on the 6-week Whole Life Challenge, and this recipe is compliant with my nutrition plan (no wheat, grains, dairy) but cottage cheese and butter are allowed. I didn’t have any almond milk so used water. I was surprised how good these are! Next time I’ll use almond milk, and perhaps a little salt. I sprinkled a little monkfruit sweetener and sliced the rest of the banana on them. I’ll definitely make them again. Thank you!
Absolutely! Glad you are enjoying this recipe ❤️
This recipe is so easy and amazing! My new favorite breakfast!
Amazing! Very light and deliciously flavorful (and well balanced with some fruit and nut butter)!!!
Really yummy! Sweetness definitely depends on the bananas you have but with a little honey or syrup, it’s a delicious healthy breakfast treat. I didn’t have cottage cheese on hand and ended up using Greek yogurt which still had a nice consistency!
Yay! I am so glad these turned out great for you!
