Hi! Your video says 1 tbsp vanilla but blog says 2 tsp. Which is correct?

    • replied:

My grandmother says 1 tablespoon but I say 2 teaspoons. Do what makes you happy! 🙂

  • says:

I was just starting to make this recipe – all dry ingredients are already mixed – and I noticed that there is no butter or oil in the recipe. Am I missing something?

    • replied:

It’s correct as written (check out the video for the full tutorial, too!) The full-fat buttermilk adds plenty of moisture and fat to the batter.

These pancakes have quickly become our favorite Sunday morning brunch pancakes for my kids and I. We were just eating them again and my 10-year-old and I were chatting about how it’s become a Sunday tradition now when they’re with me to have these pancakes. The flavor and texture is sooooo good. I rarely have buttermilk and only have my kids every other Sunday so I always opt for making my buttermilk and it’s perfection. Thanks for another amazing recipe and family tradition!

So happy to hear that! What a wonderful tradition 🙂

I’ve never left a review for any of Monique’s recipes despite the fact that I swear by this blog and also own her cookbook. I made these this morning and do not understand the negative reviews. These were incredible and easily the best pancakes I’ve made in my house. Ditch the boxed mixes and make these.

    • replied:

So happy you loved these! And thank you for your review 🙂 Hope you’re loving the cookbook as well!

These pancakes are delicious! I didn’t have blueberries so I made them plane. They are my kids new favorite pancake recipe!!!

Just made these for the first time this morning and I cannot believe I slept on this recipe for so long because they’re perfection! My fiancé and I gobbled these up on this freezing cold morning and they are so warm, fluffy and perfectly sweet that I almost felt transported back to my childhood. Will definitely be making these whenever I need to use up my blueberries!

    • replied:

I love that you and your fiancé could enjoy them together! So sweet!

So good, I am a recipe snob only 5 stars do I try & this one didn’t disappoint. I subbed maple syrup for sugar. These were fluffy and perfect.

I have made this probably 10 times now and it takes a lot for me to leave a review. I will never use another pancake recipe again. They are fluffy and golden. They taste rich but are filling with the extra protein in the buttermilk. Thanks for sharing this!

So happy to hear these are a favorite!

Well grandma Gloria, you ruined my Friday morning breakfast. These things burned like crazy on the lowest heat and they tasted sour.

    • replied:

Sorry you had an issue, we’ve tested these with 3 professional testers (2 other than myself) and didn’t have any problems! My best advice is to make sure you weigh your ingredients. Not sure why they would be sour unless your buttermilk had gone bad.

I just made Grandma’s buttermilk pancakes and they were excellent. I so enjoy the in-depth instructions and alternative ingredients that you come up with. Thank you

One of our fav breakfast recipes! Glad you enjoyed!

  • says:

Nice fluffy pancake. I replaced 1/4 c flour with whole grain pastry flour and added 2 Tbs protein powder for an extra boost. Next time I’ll increase the salt to a scant 1/2 tsp. I was lucky enough to have fresh picked wild blueberries to use that really worked out beautifully!

    • replied:

Wild blueberries sound amazing! Glad those swaps worked out well.

So delicious. Thanks for sharing your grandma’s recipe with us. I didn’t have any blueberries on hand so I used mini chocolate chips instead. Turned out wonderful.

    • replied:

      Absolutely! Love adding chocolate chips!

This is THE BEST PANCAKE RECIPE EVER!! Thank you sharing your grandma’s recipe with us.
I have tried a dozen pancake recipes and this is by far the best!
Any suggestions on how to make these pumpkin pancakes?

    • replied:

So glad you love them!! I haven’t made a buttermilk pumpkin version, but I have a great pumpkin pancake recipe here 🙂

  • says:

Literally muffin batter thick and impossible to spread if you don’t add over 1/2 cup of milk

    • replied:

Sorry to hear the batter was too thick! Did you weigh your flour or use the spoon-and-level method to measure it? Check out the video in the post, which will show you exactly how thick the batter will be.

These were so yummy! Have you ever frozen them? Wondering if they would do well if frozen then thawed. Thanks in advance and thanks for sharing!

So glad you loved them! And yes – check out the full blog post where I have instructions for freezing them 🙂
