We’re back with another one of my favorite pantry staples. Oat flour is an easy, inexpensive ingredient to stock your pantry with that you can actually make yourself! It’s an amazing way to make delicious baked goods gluten free and might just become your new favorite, too.
Benefits of using oat flour
- Oats pack tons of health benefits. They’re a whole grain food, which means they pack vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber and are even a great source of protein.
- Stay satisfied longer. Because oats are fiber & protein packed, they’ll keep you feeling satisfied for longer. That means with recipes using oat flour (as opposed to white, refined flour) you’re less likely to spike your blood sugar and experience that 3pm hanger later.
- Gotta love the versatility. Oat flour is extremely versatile. You’ll see that I use oat flour in tons of baking recipes and even savory ones because it provides the perfect texture and holds recipes together.

Hi there, quick question, since I was just viewing your recipes with homemade oat flour! I noticed that most if not all of the recipes are baked/ cooked, i am almost sure you have recipes with unbaked oats/ oat flour, my question is have you ever experienced the recipe to have a rancid/sour taste? I made an unbaked granola bar recipe with oat flour and it was so bad! I ended up throwing it all out?
Hi! Very strange. I have never had oat flour be rancid or sour!
What type of oats do you use to make your own? Have you tried it with rolled oats? I have used lots of almond flour, which I love, but finding more recipes that use oat flour is encouraging me to give it a try! And all these look so good!
I always use rolled oats! Let me know if you give any of these a try 🙂
