Welcome to weekend favorites! Finally we are back in action on the regular.
And so let’s just talk it out like we normally do here.
At first I was excited that June was going to be pretty relaxed, but it’s been more hectic than I could have imagined. Mostly because I think I have too many recipe ideas and become obsessed with sharing all of them with you. MY BAD. But look, I spent some significant time digging through your survey responses and trying to understand what you guys were really looking for, plus I was curious myself.
Turns out many of you have virtually no time to create meals, you love my desserts (and I love them too), and you like healthy snacks. Oh and many of you want more vegetarian recipes.
I’m cool with all of the above. Also, mac and cheese is probably your favorite comfort food. Sorry we couldn’t agree on that one, as you probably know how much I love my enchiladas.
Taking a little break
Anyway, I’ve decided to take a step back a little come July. I need to get better at 1) prioritizing, 2) focusing my time on things I really want to be doing outside of blogging 3) planning my wedding 4) enjoying the Chicago summer 5) LIVING LIFE
I really just want everything to slow down a little. I’m not sure if it’s everything that’s happening in my life, or if it’s because of social media and the access to endless information all day every day, but lately life has been going by too quickly. I feel like every day I blink and it’s already 6pm and thus it seems like I’m missing out on some of my favorite summer activities like happy hours, bike rides by the lake and discovering the endless cool places in Chicago. So I vow to do just that.
Don’t worry though, I’ll still be blogging, just a little less than I normally do or perhaps more about life in general (outside of my life that is food).
Anyway, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s head to all the good stuff I’ve been into lately:
Love this ingredient spotlight on asparagus
OMG this black polka dot dress is adorable.
May we please have a convo about this strawberry cobbler? I’m gonna dump in on my face.
Been searching for something yellow for so long and currently in love with this romper.
OMG my mom used to love orange sherbert. Here’s how to make it at home.
This jumpsuit with tennis shoes puhhlease.Â
WHY AM I OBSESSED with the color cornflower on shoes?
UA Mirror Crop leggings perfect for keeping cool during this hot ass summer
Because rompers = love, check out this floral and this white one (size up in the white one!)
Who doesn’t love sandwiches for dinner? Check out all of these.
These natural deodorants smell AMAZING and actually work!
The CUTEST cocktail shaker for entertaining.
Hope you guys have the best weekend and happy Father’s day to all the papas out there!

Thanks for being real and I am so glad that you know that taking a little break is what is best for you! Enjoy your summer and I look forward to any recipes you do share and will be excited to have some new things once you are back at it full swing! The two glow guides have enough recipes for me to last a long time. I truly love all your recipes and your posts and am so thankful you are willing to share your love for food with us!
Thank you Mary! Don’t worry – I’ll keep the tasty recipes coming 🙂 and the Healthy Glow Guide ones will be perfect all summer long!
YESSS. I think that feeling of needing to take a step back is going around. It is SUMMER and we Midwesterners have to soak up as much sun and enjoy the outdoors while we can! I too plan to take a little step back so I am right there with ya <3
SO true! Cheers to livin’ a little this summer 🙂
Enjoy your summer! Love reading your blog!
Our Chicago summers are wayyyy too damn short in my opinion. Gotta savor every day! I’m going sailing on the lake last month! Woohoo! BTW, that yellow romper is amazing!!!
AGREED! And that sounds like so much fun 🙂 thank you!!
yes girl! take a break and enjoy your summer too! LOVe this round up too btw! that italian chicken salad sandwich looks to die for! 🙂
Thanks girl! Glad you can find some tasty recipes in here 🙂
Totally with you on taking a break! I had to say it out loud to actually force myself to do it. It’s so easy to get caught up in blogging and before you know it, the week is over!
SO true – I’ll have to practice saying it out loud!
Wedding planning definitely goes fast starting at the 6 month mark! I’ve got just under 10 weeks left and it’s just flying. One important word of advice is if you have any DIYs, start them now if you haven’t already. For the types of DIYs I’m doing (mostly hand-lettered signs) I knew what I was getting myself into and it still took longer than I expected. You commented on my Donut Wall the other day on Instagram — that’s been a work in progress for 3 weeks now. It’s a lot of fun but I’m ready for the planning to be over and for the party to start 🙂 Best of luck to you!
Good thinking on the DIY’s, and oh my gosh LOVE that donut wall! Totally agree…can the party just start already?? All the best to you too girl have so much fun! 🙂
