YES. And it’s such a great way to batch meal prep for busy weeks (or even months). Here’s how to store it:
- To store: store the shredded chicken in airtight containers or resealable bags in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- To freeze: freeze shredded chicken in airtight containers or bags for up to 3 months. Simply reheat the shredded chicken in the refrigerator before using it in recipes.

In order to add cooked, shredded chicken to soups, simply stir in 2-3 cups of shredded chicken during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking.
Chilis & curries
Similarly to the soups, simply add 2-3 cups of cooked, shredded chicken to the chili or curry 10 minutes before serving. If you’re using a slow cooker, stir in the chicken once everything else is done cooking.
Sandwiches & wraps
Toss some cooked, shredded chicken in whatever sauce or condiment you’re using, then stack it with the rest of the ingredients in your sandwich or wrap.
Love adding a boost of protein to salads with shredded chicken! Simply toss the chicken with the rest of the salad ingredients.
